Guaranteed error bounds for linear algebra problems and a class of Picard-Lindelöf iteration methods

2012

This study focuses on iteration methods based on the Banach fixed point theorem and a posteriori error estimates of Ostrowski. Their application for systems of linear simultaneous equations, bounded linear operators, as well as integral and differential equations is considered. The study presents a new version of the Picard–Lindelöf method for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) supplied with guaranteed and explicitly computable upper bounds of the approximation error. The estimates derived in the thesis take into account interpolation and integration errors and, therefore, provide objective information on the accuracy of computed approximations.

Some preliminary but troubling evidence on group credits in microfinance programmes

2010

Group lending programs are said to be the key factor of success of microÂ…nance. They are said to reduce information asymmetries in credit contracts and to increase repayment rates. Despite that, in recent years more and more individual credits without collateral are given, even if there is no mutual monitoring of the borrowers. We use basic descriptive statistics on individual- and group panel data, which we construct out of a World Bank data set. We provide Â…rst evidence that individuals that are not participating in group credits accumulate wealth more quickly than participants of group credit programs.

2004

An international reaction was required to the financial scandals of recent years, and some States started to reform corporate governance. Two main systems were used – self-regulation through good governance codes, and legislative measures to achieve transparency in financial markets. The principle of transparency is based on two premises – corporate governance and business information in the framework of new technologies. This study analyses the enforcement of the new Spanish legislation on transparency in credit cooperatives from a dual perspective – that of organisational structure, and members’ rights to information and the use of new technologies.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING THE INTRODUCTION AND IMPLEMENT OF THE PROPOSED `FINANCIAL TRANSACTION TAX` ON PENSION FUNDS. IMPACT ON TRANSACTION COS…

2012

In economies in which pension obligations are substantial, it is important that there is a high degree of trust in the financial reporting of pensions by employers and by pension plans. The objective of this paper is to assess legal considerations regarding the introduction and implement of financial transaction tax mechanisms in private pension system. In line with this objective, an understanding of causes, implications, solutions for pensions is essential to being able to efficiently and effectively create a secure fiscal environment.

Valorificarea capitalului intelectual - criteriu pentru performanta manageriala in societatea bazata pe cunoastere

2006

If we can see the knowledge society as an essential part of the “external environment” of the firm management, that brings with it some specific opportunities and threats, we have to consider the intellectual capital – that integrates the two basic resources: knowledge and human – a key ingredient for the “internal environment” of the firm management, which determines some strengths and/or weaknesses that lead to the success or the failure of the managerial effort of the firm operating under the circumstances given by the emergency of three processes with global spread: the economic globalization, the managerial revolution and the knowledge-based society. Having as starting point the premis…
