A systematic concept analysis of mental health promotion
2016
AbstractThis study explored and clarified the nature and characteristics of the concept of mental health promotion. The study also investigated how these characteristics appear in current policies and strategies. A total of 30 scientific articles and policy documents were identified and analysed using Rodgers’s systematic evolutionary concept analysis method. The analysis provided valuable information on the attributes, related concepts, antecedents, consequences and references of mental health promotion, indicating that the concept is a distinct concept comprising a unique set of attributes and characteristics. A concept mapping of mental health promotion was subsequently developed. The an…
Scoping review and concept analysis of early adolescents’ emotional skills : Towards development of a music therapy assessment tool
2021
Introduction: This paper describes the concept and content of early adolescents’ emotional skills among the general population. The research literature contains many emotional skills-related terms with overlapping meanings, and it can be challenging to determine which are applicable for example, to a music therapy assessment tool. This study comprises the first phase of developing an assessment tool for early adolescents’ emotional skills, namely, determining what is to be assessed. Method: A scoping review of the literature is presented with written definitions of emotional skills-related terms, as well as a concept analysis of the terms performed using Walker and Avant’s method. Results: …
ABSTRACT. This paper exp…
Measuring users' level of information security awareness : research and development of sample questions
2017
Tämän gradun tarkoituksena on käsiteanalyysin avulla hahmottaa tärkeimpiä omaisuuksia tietoturvatietoisuudesta ja tavoista levittää sitä, tutustua niihin tarkemmin, ja muodostaa näistä perusteltuja ja käyttäjille olennaisia kysymyksiä joilla selvittää käyttäjän tietoturvatietoisuutta. Aiheen tarkempi läpikäynti on tärkeää, sillä aiemmissa tutkimuksissa on havaittu, että käyttäjät kertovat noudattavansa tietoturvapolitiikoita, vaikka tarkemmin tutkittaessa eivät tienneet tai ymmärtäneet tietoturvapolitiikoiden sisältöä. Kysymysten muodostamisessa otetaan huomioon myös muita käsiteanalyysi vaiheessa selvinneitä piirteitä, joilla tehdä kysymyksistä parempia. Tuloksena esitetään 20 esimerkkikys…
Stakeholder expectations : conceptual foundations and empirical analysis
2015
Expectations are an inseparable part of interaction, whether in interpersonal, intragroup, or organization–stakeholder relations. As a concept, expectations appear frequently in the public relations literature, yet definitions are scarce or narrow. This thesis contributes to the conceptual and empirical understanding of expectations in the context of organization–stakeholder relations and, more specifically, studies how organizations translate their societal roles and how stakeholders form expectations of these roles. The theoretical framework is drawn from Scandinavian institutionalism and corporate responsibility as social connectedness that, first, places organization–stakeholder relatio…
Curiosity and exploration: A conceptual overview and structural modeling
2001
Many attempts have been made to measure curiosity or intrinsic motivation. However, there is no consensus on what curiosity is. In the present study, five previously constructed curiosity inventories were translated to Finnish and modified to be convenient for fifth-graders. The main purpose of the study was to clarify the concept of curiosity. Using conceptual analysis and the results of previous studies, it was possible to construct nine alternative conceptual models of curiosity. The corresponding statistical models were expected to account for the covariances among 15 subscales measuring curiosity-related exploratory behavior. However, before proceeding to the subscale level, the struct…
