Posttransplant Management of Recipients Undergoing Liver Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Working Group Report From the ILTS Transplant …

2020

Although liver transplantation (LT) is the best treatment for patients with localized hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), recurrence occurs in 6%-18% of patients. Several factors, particularly morphological criteria combined with dynamic parameters, known before LT modify this risk and combined in prediction models may be used to stratify patients at need of variable surveillance strategies. Additional variables though likely explain differences in recurrence rates in patients with the same pre-LT HCC status. One of these variables is possibly immunosuppression (IS). Once recurrence takes place, management is highly heterogenous. Within the International Liver Transplantation Society Consensus …

GEICO (Spanish Group for Investigation on Ovarian Cancer) treatment guidelines in ovarian cancer 2012

2013

In 2006, under the auspices of The Spanish Research Group for Ovarian Cancer (Spanish initials GEICO), the first “Treatment Guidelines in Ovarian Cancer” were developed and then published in Clinical and Translational Oncology by Poveda Velasco et al. (Clin Transl Oncol 9(5):308–316, 2007). Almost 6 years have elapsed and over this time, we have seen some important developments in the treatment of ovarian cancer. Significant changes were also introduced after the GCIG-sponsored 4th Consensus Conference on Ovarian Cancer by Stuart et al. (Int J Gynecol Cancer 21:750–755, 2011). So we decided to update the treatment guidelines in ovarian cancer and, with this objective, a group of investigato…

2008

Background We published the Canadian 2003 International Consensus Algorithm for the Diagnosis, Therapy, and Management of Hereditary Angioedema (HAE; C1 inhibitor [C1-INH] deficiency) in 2004. Objective To ensure that this consensus remains current. Methods In collaboration with the Canadian Network of Rare Blood Disorder Organizations, we held the second Canadian Consensus discussion with our international colleagues in Toronto, Ontario, on February 3, 2006, and reviewed its content at the Fifth C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop in Budapest on June 2, 2007. Papers were presented by international investigators, and this consensus algorithm approach resulted. Results This consensus algorithm …

Consensus On Women'S Health Aspects Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Pcos)

2012

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in females with a high prevalence. The etiology of this heterogeneous condition remains obscure and its phenotype expression varies. Two, widely cited, previous ESHRE/ASRM-sponsored PCOS consensus workshops focused on diagnosis (published in 2004) and infertility management (published in 2008). The present third PCOS consensus paper summarizes current knowledge and identifies knowledge gaps regarding various women's health aspects of PCOS. Relevant topics addressed-all dealt with in a systematic fashion-include adolescence, hirsutism and acne, contraception, menstrual cycle abnormalities, quality of life, ethnicity, preg…

Editorial: Sustainable development of energy, Water and Environment Systems

2020

In 2018 the Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) was held in three different locations and periods, so as to offer to the scientific community working in the field several opportunities to share and discuss new ideas and disseminate results of research activities. The 1st Latin American SDEWES Conference was held in Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) in January 28–31 and attracted 180 scientists from 35 countries, with a high number of contributions mainly from Southern American and European academics and professionals, who reciprocally enriched about emerging issues in the field of sustainable development in these continents. Arbeitsanweisungen zu Videomitschnitten in digitalen Lehrendenbildungskonferenzen

2021

The article investigates how digital conferences are interactionally accomplished by the participants in an international education and training project for teachers of German as a Foreign Language. From the perspective of multimodal conversation analysis, we focus on how the moderator transforms the model for working with the recorded lessons into instructions to the teachers in the ongoing conference and how the teachers subsequently orient their contributions to the instructions. It is seen that the moderator’s instructions increasingly depart from the model and accommodate the teachers’ work practices. In addition, the teachers and the project assistant repeatedly display uncertainty ab…

Schweigen in Videokonferenzen: Vom Umgang mit Störungen in Online-Besprechungen

2020

This paper deals with silence in video-based discourse, which includes pauses and delays. The data of the study is provided by international video conferences in which six in-service teachers and six pre-service teachers from three countries (Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary) together with a moderator and an assistent discuss sequences of their lessons. These discussions are part of a teacher training progrmme as conceived and implemented in the Erasmus+ project LEELU (www.leelu.eu). The focus of the present study is to analyse through a multimodal approach how the above-mentioned moments of silence co-constitute the video-based interaction, and how the discourse is built up with the other m…

Virtual exchange : not only for language learning

2018

Technology enables teachers to connect their students online with foreign students in a facilitated educational setting. Such tele-collaborative intercultural projects are called virtual exchange practices (O’Dowd 2018). The students get an opportunity to engage in dialogues and tele-collaboration with peers from other countries. The intercultural encounters may not only enhance the participants’ intercultural and foreign language competencies but can also develop their collaborative skills. In addition, the students can learn how to manage in communicative situations, when the communicators’ language proficiency levels and study fields are different. This article provides an overview of vi…
