Summary. The …
The Numerical Simulation of Relativistic Fluid Flow with Strong Shocks
2001
In this review we present and analyze the performance of a Go-dunov type method applied to relativistic fluid flow. Our model equations are the corresponding Euler equations for special relativistic hydrodynamics. By choosing an appropriate vector of unknowns, the equations of special relativistic fluid dynamics (RFD) can be written as a hyperbolic system of conservation laws. We give a complete description of the spectral decomposition of the Jacobian matrices associated to the fluxes in each spatial direction, (see (Donat et al., 1998), for details), which is the essential ingredient of the Godunov-type numerical method we propose in this paper. We also review a numerical flux formula tha…
A Second Order Accurate Kinetic Relaxation Scheme for Inviscid Compressible Flows
2013
In this paper we present a kinetic relaxation scheme for the Euler equations of gas dynamics in one space dimension. The method is easily applicable to solve any complex system of conservation laws. The numerical scheme is based on a relaxation approximation for conservation laws viewed as a discrete velocity model of the Boltzmann equation of kinetic theory. The discrete kinetic equation is solved by a splitting method consisting of a convection phase and a collision phase. The convection phase involves only the solution of linear transport equations and the collision phase instantaneously relaxes the distribution function to an equilibrium distribution. We prove that the first order accur…
Upwind Relativistic MHD Code for Astrophysical Applications
2003
We describe the status of devolpment of a 2.5D numerical code to solve the equations of ideal relativistic magnetohydrodynamics. The numerical code, based on high-resolution shock-capturing techniques, solves the equations written in conservation form and computes the numerical fluxes using a linearized Riemann solver. A special procedure is used to force the conservation of magnetic flux along the evolution.
A Divergence-Free High-Resolution Code for MHD
2001
We describe a 2.5D numerical code to solve the equations of ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). The numerical code, based on high-resolution shock-capturing (HRSC) techniques, solves the equations written in conservation form and computes the numerical fluxes using a linearized Riemann solver. A special procedure is used to force the conservation of magnetic flux along the time.
Syntaxonomic survey of the class Pegano-Salsoletea in Italy
2012
After a general outline on the syntaxonomical framework of the class Pegano harmalae-Salsoletea vermiculatae Br.-Bl. & O. Bolos 1958, the occurrence of this vegetation in the Italian territory is examined. In Italy, this vegetation is mostly found on clayish or marly substrata, particularly if slightly enriched with nitrates and chlorides. With reference to the Rivas-Martı´nez bioclimatic classification, the Italian stands have an infra- to thermo-Mediterranean thermotype (marginally up to the meso- Mediterranean one) with dry or arid ombrotype. In particular, this vegetation is well represented in Sicily, while in Sardinia and along the Italian Peninsula, it progressively becomes more rare…
Helminth parasitizing <em>Iberolacerta cyreni</em> (Müller et Hellmich, 1937) from Gredos Mountains, Iberian Peninsula
2017
A survey of the helminth communities of a population of Iberolacerta cyreni (Müller et Hellmich, 1937), a small lizard endemic to Sistema Central (Iberian Peninsula), was conducted to determine the prevalence, abundance and species diversity of parasites of these reptiles. Four species of helminths were found, one trematode, Plagiorchis molini Lent et Freitas, 1940, one cestode, Nematotaenia tarentolae López-Neyra, 1944, and two nematodes, Skrjabinelazia sp. and Spauligodon carbonelli Roca & García-Adell, 1988. Helminth infracommunities of I. cireny showed very low values of abundance and species richness and diversity, being similar to other European lizards. The parasites found seem t…
A prioritised inventory of crop wild relatives and wild harvested plants of Tunisia
2022
AbstractAn inventory of crop wild relatives (CWR) and wild harvested plants (WHP) occurring in Tunisia, based on the integration of the last available floristic checklists, is presented. The taxa were prioritised according to economic value of the related crop, potential for crop improvement, threat status, endemism, inclusion in the ITPGRFA (Annex I) and average annual contributions to dietary energy (kilocalories) per capita per day by applying a scoring system based on 4 priority levels. Of a total of 2912 taxa belonging to the Tunisian Flora, 2504 CWR and/or WHP (86% of the total), from 143 families and 686 genera, were identified, 2445 of which are CWR and 847 are WHP. In detail, 1654 …
Physiological, anatomical and biomass partitioning responses to ozone in the Mediterranean endemic plant Lamottea dianae
2011
Ozone effects on the perennial forb Lamottea dianae were studied in an open-top chamber experiment. Ozone was found to induce reductions in CO 2 assimilation and water use efficiency in the leaves of this species. These reductions were mainly related to a decline in the in vivo CO 2 fixation capacity of Rubisco (V c,max), rather than to stomatal limitations or photoinhibitory damage (F v:F m). In addition to chloroplast degeneration, other observed effects were callose accumulation, formation of pectinaceous wart-like cell wall exudates and phloem alterations. Moreover, ozone exposure significantly reduced root dry biomass. The possible relevance of these adverse effects for Mediterranean f…
