Chemical Constituents of Urospermum picroides
1992
Seven phenolic compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of U. picroides. They were identified by UV spectra, TLC and HPLC-DAD as luteolin, luteolin-7-glucoside, quercetin, quercetin-3-galactoside, kaempferol-3-galactoside, chlorogenic and isochlorogenic acids. Other phenolics were characterized by HPLC-DAD analysis: gallic, protocatechuic, caffeic, ferulic and isoferulic acids, quercetin-3-glucoside and luteolin-4′-glucoside.
Democracy in Constituent Moments: Exploring the Spanish Constitutional Debate of 1931 through Political Theory and Conceptual History
2019
This paper aims to answer the question of why constituent moments are relevant to political theory. It hypothesises the Spanish constitutional debate of 1931 as a case of conceptual innovation in parliamentary politics by arguing that debates in constituent moments entail a special kind of parliamentary argumentation when new political regimes are established. There, all sorts of theoretical, normative, historical, and institutional aspects are discussed to deliberate on the future character and functioning of a political regime. From a methodological point of view, this analysis draws on the revision of arguments and political terms used by MPs during the Spanish constituent assembly of 19…
LES ÉQUIVOQUES DU « CONSTITUTIONNALISME OCTROYÉ » : UN DÉBAT TRANSATLANTIQUE (I)
2015
In Portugal and in its former colonies, the expression "constitucionalismo outorgado » is part of the constitutional vocabulary since the granting of the Charter of 1826. The French inspiration is obvious ; however, no equivalent expression exists in France. This curiosity leads to measure all the ambiguity of the concept of "granted constitutionalism", an improbable oxymoron according to the president of the Portuguese Republic, Teófilo Braga. Is it about a simple political and linguistic claim, a temporary compromise at the end of a frustrated Revolution? Or does it translate a deeper program, to reconcile both sides of the constitutionalism, ancient and modern ?
THE AMBIGUITIES OF « GRANTED CONSTITUTIONALISM » : A TRANSATLANTIC DEBATE (II)
2017
After France, and before Brazil, the second article concerns Portugal. The portuguese legal framework was appropriate to stem the birth of the constituent power. Reconstructed on the basis of an apocryphal transcription of its founding pact, the Cortes of Lamego of 1143, the portuguese public law benefited on top of a written document born in the XVth century, the Ordenações. This double peculiarity, making "iberian liberties" a model of the ancient constitutionalism, explains the reverential respect for these medieval borders and the hatred following Dom Pedro's granting in 1826. In these conditions, and in spite of the program followed by a "granting power" which refuses to define itself …
2014
This paper deals with the properties of interrogative sentences with a split constituent (or split interrogatives) in Catalan and Spanish. We compare split interrogatives with Wh-questions, yes/no questions, different kinds of confirmatory questions and clitic left dislocation constructions. Split interrogatives show a very clear-cut syntactic and phonological distinction between those constituents to be interpreted as shared or old information (theme) and the constituent which receives the focus of the sentence. Following recent theoretical work on the left periphery of the sentence, we propose that the Ground Phrase projection (placed below ForceP) is especially relevant in split interrog…
Invasive alien species – potential cheap resources of plant substances for medicinal use
2018
Some alien species demonstrate rather invasive behaviour. They have high tolerance of various habitat conditions and potent propagation ability. They not only over-compete the local vegetation but suppress the seed development of the native plants. In the newly invaded habitats they might not have suitable herbivores to control their populations. The only effective enemy might be Homo sapiens. Humans are known with their destructive power once an object has become significant for industrial utilization. The aim of this study is to review research data and reveal the potential of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Erigeron canadensis L., Xanthium strumarium L. and Dittrichia graveolens (L.) W. Greu…

Fixed and NOT free : Revisiting the order of the main clausal constituents in Finnish Sign Language from a corpus perspective
2017
This squib investigates the order of the main clausal constituents in verbal-centered clauses in Finnish Sign Language (FinSL). With the help of the frequencies calculated from narratives included in the recently compiled FinSL corpus, the study suggests that the order of the main constituents in FinSL clauses is more fixed than has been claimed in a previous study. With intransitive and transitive clauses with a Type 1 or Type 2 verbal predicate, the study shows that their internal structures strongly favor the orders SV and AVP, respectively, although both S/A and P core arguments are often left lexically unexpressed. Concerning Type 3 verbal predicates, the study shows that they most typ…
Few-body insights of multiquark exotic hadrons
2018
In this contribution we discuss the adequate treatment of the $4-$ and $5-$body dynamics within a constituent quark framework. We stress that the variational and Born-Oppenheimer approximations give energies rather close to the exact ones, while the diquark approximation might be rather misleading. Hall-Post inequalities provide very useful lower bounds that exclude possible stable states for some mass ratios and color wave functions.
