Antimicrobial consumption and antimicrobial resistance: A snapshot of an Italian neuromuscular rehabilitation center

The paper presents a snapshot of the incidence of antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms and antimicrobial consumption in an Italian rehabilitation center over a two-year period (2014-2015). Data on microorganism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing were obtained from the diagnostic laboratory of the hospital. A set of indicators was assessed, including the incidence density of resistant isolates per 1000 patient-days (IDRI). Data on antimicrobial consumption, semi-annually, obtained from the hospital pharmacy, were expressed as Defined Daily Dose (DDD) per 1000 patient-days. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is often complicated by acute subdural hemorrhage (ASDH) with a high mortality rate. The pathophysiological mechanisms behind such an injury type and the contribution of blood to the extent of an injury remain poorly understood. Therefore, the goals of this study were to establish a porcine ASDH model in order to investigate pathomechanisms of ASDH and to compare effects induced by blood or sheer volume. Time Use and Food Taxation in Spain

We evaluate the welfare impact of changing the VAT on food in a context in which households can produce home meals for own consumption that compete with meals served in restaurants. Home production of meals requires the combination of food and time inputs. The fiscal treatment in home production of both the inputs and the final product differs from market production of meals, generating different channels of inefficiency. Estimating the substitutability between private and public consumption: the case of Spain, 1960–2003

This paper examines the relationship between private and public consumption using Spanish data over the period 1960–2003, using a two-good permanent-income model. We extend previous analysis addressing the question of whether this relationship is stable over time, or exhibits a structural break allowing the instability to occur at an unknown point in time. Our empirical results indicated the existence of a long-run relationship between private and public consumption. Energy consumptions in different mini dairy plants

Using modern plants, suitable for processing also small amounts of milk, sheep breeders, instead to sell their milk to some dairies, could earn the additional income due to cheese and ricotta sale. The fuel and electrical energy consumptions were measured and evaluated in some mini dairy plants. The results show that mini dairy plants powered by diesel fuel consume less energy per processed milk volume unit than those powered by liquid propane gas.

The present study evaluated the role of mitochondrial Complex I in GIN biotransformation and the therapeutic effect of mitochondrial antioxidants. The development of GIN tolerance (in rat and human vessels) produced a decrease in mitochondrial 02 consumption.
