Six male rowers rowed maximally for 2500 m in ergometer tests during normoxia (fractional concentration of oxygen in inspired air, F IO2 0.209), in hyperoxia (F IO2 0.622) and in hypoxia (F IO2 0.158) in a randomized single-blind fashion. However, there is no consensus on the effects of shock-impact absorption during its practice. The aim of this study was to investigate whether a novel heart rate (HR)-running speed index could be used in monitoring adaptation to endurance training. Forty-five recreational runners underwent a 2-phased 28-week training regime. The first 14 weeks included basic endurance training, whereas the second 14 weeks were more intensive (increased volume and intensity). Objective: To examine associations between chocolate consumption and depressive symptoms in a large, representative sample of US adults. Methods: The data were from 13,626 adults (≥20 years) participating in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2007–08 and 2013–14. Daily chocolate consumption was derived from two 24-hr dietary recalls. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), with scores ≥10 indicating the presence of clinically relevant symptoms.
