Like ships passing in the night? Nonstandard work schedules and spousal satisfaction in Finland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom

This study examined the associations of work schedules and spousal satisfaction among Finnish (n = 347), Dutch (n = 304) and British (n = 337) parents. In addition to comparing parents with nonstandard schedule with parents in regular day work, the study examined separately the roles played in spousal satisfaction of morning, evening, night and weekend work and other working time-related variables (working hours, changes in and influence over one’s work schedules and spouse’s work schedule). Lake Valkea-Kotinen is a long-term ecological monitoring site in the Evo region of southern Finland .The aim of this study was to investigate the growth and population structure of perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) in relation to diet in Valkea-Kotinen in order to provide reference data for a study investigating effects of increased loading of dissolved organic matter to nearby Lake Alinen Mustajärvi. Valkea-Kotinen was predominantly inhabited by small benthivorous perch. The growth relationship between opercular bone and total length of perch in the lake is similar to those earlier analysed for nearby lakes. Participation in the public debate constitutes one of the most evident avenues for political scientists to demonstrate the social relevance of the discipline. This article focuses on two questions: the types of roles political scientists adopt in their public interventions and the potential tensions between their public engagement and the epistemic norms regulating academic and research activities. Mūsdienu klasēs, daudzi pedagogi saskaras ar „ārpus kontroles bērniem”. Bērniem, kuriem ir uzmanības deficīts vai hiperaktivitātes sindroms (turpmāk tekstā UDHS), ir neiroloģiski traucējumi, kas ietekmē viņu spēju kontrolēt savu uzvedību un pievērst uzmanību uzdevumiem. Bērni ar UDHS rada īpašu iedzīvotāju grupu ar dažādām vajadzībām izglītības vidē. Izpētītajā pētījumā, tika pievērsta uzmanība uzmanības deficīta un hiperaktivitātes traucējumiem. Servant Leadership in a Nordic Healthcare Organization

The aim of this chapter is to deepen the understanding of employees’ perceptions of servant leadership (SL) in the context of healthcare organizations. The empirical findings are based on the analysis of qualitative data collected in a Nordic healthcare organization that supports SL. Based on theory-driven content analysis, perceptions of SL were evaluated based on Spears’ definition of SL, which this chapter supports and develops. The findings show that SL seems to be a suitable approach for leadership in a healthcare organization. Its ethical and human-centered values especially seem to fit the context of healthcare. peerReviewed

Sananmuodostus on keskeinen taito kielten oppijalle; se auttaa paitsi sanavaraston laajentamisessa, myös edistää oppijan lukutaitoa vieraskielistä tekstiä lukiessa.
