Development and preliminary validation of the contextual connection scale for adolescents (CCSA)
2009
This paper presents the development and validation of the Échelle d'affiliation contextuelle pour adolescents (EACA; Contextual Connection Scale for Adolescents, CCSA) within the framework of Bronfenbrenner's bioecological model (1995). This instrument comprises three subscales measuring connections in three different contexts: family, school, and peers. Two studies have been conducted with 1959 French adolescents to (1) test and confirm a three factor structure one factor per context and (2) evaluate criterion validity. The results show that this scale has good psychometric qualities and provides original and relevant materials for research and application.

Modèle global et paramétrable, pour la gestion des foules d'agents en animation comportementale
2011
The realism of crowd behavioral animation is based on one hand on a rendering of graphic scenes generated by the application, and on the other hand on the realism of the behavior. This is last point which is our object of study. The realism of crowds' behavior is essentially global (macroscopic realism). It must respect the required statistical characteristics of the crowd (density, dispersal, speed…) similar to those of a real crowd. The realism is also local (microscopic realism), i.e. agents should ideally behave like humans or human groups taken as reference, at least in the focus of the considered application. The aim of our research is to propose a generic model to perform crowd behav…
De quelques difficultés à cumuler ses savoirs sur les phénomènes éducatifs : l'exemple de la démocratisation de l'enseignement
2002
This paper aims at showing the difficulties regarding the building up of knowledge about educational processes, especially as far as democratization is concerned. The stake here is to boost the scientific character of results in educational research, and therefore its legitimacy and its influence upon educational policies. The authors stress the importance of the historical context of data, the leading part of conceptualization, so that the structural changes of schooling may be grasped, and also the impact of technical measures upon factual knowledge. Finally, the issue of data, a difficult one in that field like in other ones, is illustrated by the analysis of the relation between "ZEP" (…
Reproduction behaviors : permanencies and changes : for a contextual and dynamic approach of the fertility
2015
Current levels of African fertility are, for most observers, the expression of a continuation of traditional values of ancestral essence. For those observers, the traditional values continue to determine reproductive behavior, despite the economic, political and social changes. Based on the case of the Republic of Congo, dynamic and contextual analysis of these behaviors, reveal that these are rather clear break from the current level of fertility; they suggest significant unmet need for birth control. It is possible that a Malthusian reflex develops gradually, which does not exclude the need for children, contrary to some theories. These behaviors are characterized by profound changes resu…
Developing a framework for designing humanitarian blockchain projects
2021
International audience; Blockchain technology promises to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of humanitarian operations. Yet at the same time, especially the humanitarian context with its characteristic volatility poses unique challenges to any technology. Most prominent are the humanitarian principles that are fundamental to humanitarian operations. These ethical principles are set to protect the most vulnerable populations. Designing blockchain projects in the humanitarian context therefore requires a systematic framework that helps humanitarians make critical choices. While some design instructions can be found for commercial applications, the humanitarian context re…
Noise Analysis and Comparison of Phase-and Frequency-Detecting Readout Systems: Application to SAW Delay Line Magnetic Field Sensor
2019
International audience; Transmission surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors are widely used in various fields of application. In order to improve the limit of detection (LOD) of such sensor systems, it is essential to understand and quantify the relevant noise sources. Only then, strategies for noise reduction can be developed. In this paper, low noise readout systems for the application with SAW sensors in an open-loop and a closed-loop configuration are presented and experimentally investigated with regard to their phase noise on the example of a SAW delay line magnetic field sensor. Besides a comprehensive analysis of the phaseand frequency modulated signals, respectively, previously derive…
Augmented context based on prediction for efficient knowledge reuse of business knowledge in design
2017
Works on the design context augmentation in product design, makes it possible to make awareness designers on their choice in the design for assembly. The presented approach will conclude on the method to develop a informatic system, based on case studies of mechanical design. The purpose of the project is to capture the design intent, in order to provide useful assistance to stakeholders, such as design support, decision making, verification/validation, and data structuring.
An integrated modelling and remote sensing approach for hydrological study in arid and semi-arid regions: the SUDMED Program
2008
International audience; Recent efforts have been concentrated in the development of models to understand and predict the impact of environmental changes on hydrological cycle and water resources in arid and semi-arid regions. In this context, remote sensing data have been widely used to initialize, to force, or to control the simulations of these models. However, for several reasons, including the difficulty in establishing relationships between observational and model variables, the potential offered by satellite data has not been fully used. As a matter of fact, a few hydrological studies that use remote sensing data emanating from different sources (sensors, platforms) have been performe…
