On the structure of 3-acetylamino-5-methyl- 1,2,4-oxadiazole and on the fully degenerate rearrangements (FDR) of its anion: a stimulating comparison …

2009

An accurate crystal structure determination has provided evidence for a planar conformation for 3-acetylamino-5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole (5), in agreement with quantum-mechanical calculations in the gas phase. In the crystal, a series of strong intermolecular N7H7...O9 hydrogen bonds link the amido groups of different molecules, causing the formation of infinite parallel ordered chains. The effect of the DMSO solvent on the energy and charge distribution of compound 5 and on its relevant 5S anion, involved in a fully degenerate rearrangement (FDR), has been deepened by quantum-mechanical DFT calculations. The calculated energy barrier for the FDR increases in going from in vacuo to DMSO, in …

Brønsted and Lewis acid catalyzed conversion of pulp industry waste biomass to levulinic acid

2019

Enormous amounts of fiber sludge are generated annually by the pulp industry as a by-product. As a cellulose-rich material, its current usage, mainly as fuel, is inefficient from a material efficiency point of view. This work studied the utilization of fiber sludge from a Finnish and a Swedish pulp mill as a potential feedstock to produce levulinic acid, a valuable platform chemical. The conversion experiments of fiber sludge to levulinic acid were performed in a microwave reactor with a mixture of H2SO4 and Lewis acid as the catalyst. The reaction conditions, which included reaction time and temperature as well as the H2SO4 and Lewis acid concentrations, were studied in detail. The highest…

Human-in-the-Loop Conversation Agent for Customer Service

2020

This paper describes a prototype system for partial automation of customer service operations of a mobile telecommunications operator with a human-in-the loop conversational agent. The agent consists of an intent detection system for identifying the types of customer requests that it can handle appropriately, a slot filling information extraction system that integrates with the customer service database for a rule-based treatment of the common scenarios, and a template-based language generation system that builds response candidates that can be approved or amended by customer service operators. The main focus of this paper is on the system architecture and machine learning system structure …

Electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to formic acid at Sn and BDD cathodes

2019

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 to useful compounds in the aqueous electrolyte has been actively investigated as alternative technologies to contribute to curbing the rising levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. Many researchers have focused on the CO2 reduction to formic acid, which is considered one of the main target-products owing to its usefulness for agriculture, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, and it is expected to be a good hydrogen storage medium for an upcoming H2-energy-based society [1,2]. In the last few years, an increasing attention was devoted to the utilization of tin electrode for its low cost, low toxicity as well as the high selectivity towards the synthesis of formic …

How far are we from the valorization of waste-CO2 to formic acid via electrochemical routes for the applicative scale?

To date, the decarbonization of the world economy and storage and production of energy from alternative C-based sources is considered a relevant topic. The electrochemical conversion of CO2 has been widely investigated since the 1870s as a promising strategy to convert waste-CO2 into value-added chemicals [1,2]. Recently, it was highlighted that, among the several emerging technologies for CO2 conversion to value-added products on an applicative scale, electrochemical technologies are the closest to commercialization due to the numerous start-ups and established companies being invested in this area (e.g., Opus-12, Dioxide Material, and Carbon Recycling International) [3]. These technologie…

Effect of Pressure on the Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 to CO

2017

To minimize the negative effect of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas and introduce renewable energy in the chemical and energy chain, an interesting approach is the Carbon Capture and Conversion. In this context, one of more appealing conversion strategies is the el Ectrochemical reduction of CO2, which could combines the utilization of excess electric energy from intermittent renewable sources with CO2 (1). Furthermore, CO2 can be selectively converted into various useful chemicals by changing the operating conditions of electrolysis. In particular, an increasing attention has been devoted to the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide (2,3). The main obstacle of t…

On the consensus nomenclature rules for radiopharmaceutical chemistry – Reconsideration of radiochemical conversion

2021

Radiochemical conversion is an important term to be included in the "Consensus nomenclature rules for radiopharmaceutical chemistry". Radiochemical conversion should be used to define reaction efficiency by measuring the transformation of components in a crude reaction mixture at a given time, whereas radiochemical yield is better suited to define the efficiency of an entire reaction process including, for example, separation, isolation, filtration, and formulation. P-149: Immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in patients with multiple myeloma

2021

We evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of the BNT162b2 vaccine in 52 patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Median age was 71.3 (range, 39.6-90.8) years. 26 (50%) patients had received active treatment including an immunomodulatory drug (IMiD) (n=21), an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody (n=11) and/or a proteasome inhibitor (n=4). 21 had received previous treatment interrupted at a median of 27.5 (range, 3.5-169.3) months before first vaccine inoculum. 5 patients had indolent untreated MM. 35 patients had a history of autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (HSCT) performed at a median of 44.4 (range, 3.5-169.3) months before first vaccine inoculum. The vaccination was well tolerated wi…
