Non-convex distributed power allocation games in cognitive radio networks

2013

In this thesis, we explore interweave communication systems in cognitive radio networks where the overall objective is to maximize the sum-rate of each cognitive radio user by optimizing jointly both the detection operation based on sensing and the power allocation across channels, taking into account the influence of the sensing accuracy and the interference limitation to the primary users. The optimization problem is addressed in single and multiuser cognitive radio networks for both single-input single-output and multi-input multi-output channels. Firstly, we study the resource allocation optimization problem for single-input single-output single user cognitive radio networks, wherein th…

An abstract inf-sup problem inspired by limit analysis in perfect plasticity and related applications

2021

This paper is concerned with an abstract inf-sup problem generated by a bilinear Lagrangian and convex constraints. We study the conditions that guarantee no gap between the inf-sup and related sup-inf problems. The key assumption introduced in the paper generalizes the well-known Babuška–Brezzi condition. It is based on an inf-sup condition defined for convex cones in function spaces. We also apply a regularization method convenient for solving the inf-sup problem and derive a computable majorant of the critical (inf-sup) value, which can be used in a posteriori error analysis of numerical results. Results obtained for the abstract problem are applied to continuum mechanics. In particular…

Decentralized Subspace Projection for Asymmetric Sensor Networks

2020

A large number of applications in Wireless Sensor Networks include projecting a vector of noisy observations onto a subspace dictated by prior information about the field being monitored. In general, accomplishing such a task in a centralized fashion, entails a large power consumption, congestion at certain nodes and suffers from robustness issues against possible node failures. Computing such projections in a decentralized fashion is an alternative solution that solves these issues. Recent works have shown that this task can be done via the so-called graph filters where only local inter-node communication is performed in a distributed manner using a graph shift operator. Most of the existi…

$varphi$-pairs and common fixed points in cone metric spaces

2008

In this paper we introduce a contractive condition, called $\varphi \textrm{-}pair$, for two mappings in the framework of cone metric spaces and we prove a theorem which assures existence and uniqueness of common fixed points for $\varphi \textrm{-}pairs$. Also we obtain a result on points of coincidence. These results extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature.

Common fixed points in cone metric spaces for CJM-pairs

2011

Abstract In this paper we introduce some contractive conditions of Meir–Keeler type for two mappings, called f - M K -pair mappings and f - C J M -pair (from Ciric, Jachymski, and Matkowski) mappings, in the framework of regular cone metric spaces and we prove theorems which guarantee the existence and uniqueness of common fixed points. We give also a fixed point result for a multivalued mapping that satisfies a contractive condition of Meir–Keeler type. These results extend and generalize some recent results from the literature. To conclude the paper, we extend our main result to non-regular cone metric spaces by using the scalarization method of Du.

From Wigner-Yanase-Dyson conjecture to Carlen-Frank-Lieb conjecture

2020

Abstract In this paper we study the joint convexity/concavity of the trace functions Ψ p , q , s ( A , B ) = Tr ( B q 2 K ⁎ A p K B q 2 ) s , p , q , s ∈ R , where A and B are positive definite matrices and K is any fixed invertible matrix. We will give full range of ( p , q , s ) ∈ R 3 for Ψ p , q , s to be jointly convex/concave for all K. As a consequence, we confirm a conjecture of Carlen, Frank and Lieb. In particular, we confirm a weaker conjecture of Audenaert and Datta and obtain the full range of ( α , z ) for α-z Renyi relative entropies to be monotone under completely positive trace preserving maps. We also give simpler proofs of many known results, including the concavity of Ψ p…

Separation properties of continuous maps in codimension 1 and geometrical applications

1992

Abstract Nuno Ballesteros, J.J. and M.C. Romero Fuster, Separation properties of continuous maps in codimension 1 and geometrical applications, Topology and its Applications 46 (1992) 107-111. We show that the image of a proper closed continuous map, f , from an n -manifold X to an ( n + 1)-manifold Y , such that H 1 (Y; Z 2 ) =0 , separates Y into at least two connected components provided the self-intersections set of f is not dense in any connected component of Y . We also obtain some geometrical applications.

2009

Abstract Let C be a compact convex subset of a Hausdorff topological linear space and T : C → C a continuous mapping. We characterize those mappings T for which T ( C ) is convexly totally bounded.

TOPOLOGICAL PARTIAL *-ALGEBRAS: BASIC PROPERTIES AND EXAMPLES

1999

Let [Formula: see text] be a partial *-algebra endowed with a topology τ that makes it into a locally convex topological vector space [Formula: see text]. Then [Formula: see text] is called a topological partial *-algebra if it satisfies a number of conditions, which all amount to require that the topology τ fits with the multiplier structure of [Formula: see text]. Besides the obvious cases of topological quasi *-algebras and CQ*-algebras, we examine several classes of potential topological partial *-algebras, either function spaces (lattices of Lp spaces on [0, 1] or on ℝ, amalgam spaces), or partial *-algebras of operators (operators on a partial inner product space, O*-algebras).
