A New Layered Compound Containing [PMo12O40]3- and Both 5- and 6-Coordinated Homoleptic (1-(2-Chloroethyl)tetrazole)Copper(II) Cations

2002

The synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of the complex obtained from the reaction between the polyoxometalate anion [PMo12O40]3- copper(II) and the ligand 1-(2-chloroethyl)tetrazole (teec) are described. This compound has been synthesized as a model for designing materials containing both magnetic polyoxometalate anions and iron(II) spin-crossover cations. Keywords. Coordination chemistry; Heterocycles; Polyoxometalates; Structure elucidation; Tetrazole.

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis, Structures and DFT Calculations on Alkaline-Earth Metal Azide-Crown Ether Complexes.

2008

The first examples of azide complexes of calcium, strontium or barium with crown ethers have been prepared and fully characterised, notably [Ba([18]crown-6)(N3)2(MeOH)], [Sr([15]crown-5)(N3)2(H2O)], [Ca([15]crown-5)(N3)2(H2O)] and [Sr([15]crown-5)(N3)(NO3)]. Crystal structures reveal the presence of a variety of coordination modes for the azide groups including 1-, -1,3- and linkages via H-bonded water molecules, in addition to azide ions. The [Ba([18]crown-6)(N3)2(MeOH)]1/3 MeOH contains dinuclear cations with three -1,3-NNN bridges, the first example of this type in main group chemistry. The structures obtained have been compared with molecular structures computed by density functional th…

Defect-Free Chemical Functionalization of Magnetic Monolayers Based on Coordination Polymers

2018

Chemical functionalization has demonstrated to be a powerful approach to tailor the physical and chemical properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials, to increase their processability and

stability, to add new functionalities and, even, to create new 2D materials. However, this post synthetic method – which involves the anchoring of molecules on the surface of an exfoliated 2D crystal – inevitably leads to defective materials, which lack long-range structural order. If defect-free functionalized monolayers are required, a radically new approach needs to be developed. Here we present a pre-synthetic method based on coordination chemistry that affords the isolatio…

Electrochemical production of initiators for polymerization processes

2007

The most important technological interest in initiator production lies, in the electrosynthesis of complex catalytic systems, i. e. coordination compounds and Ziegler-Natta catalysts, although the choice of olefins to be polymerized with these electrosynthesized complexes is still limited to ethylene and to very few other monomers.

ChemInform Abstract: Applications and Stereoselective Syntheses of P-Chirogenic Phosphorus Compounds

2016

Phosphorus compounds bearing chirality on the P-center are usually qualified as P-chirogenic or P-stereogenic. This chemical class concerns natural products, agrochemistry, molecular materials, biology and pharmacy, although it is certainly in coordination chemistry and in asymmetric catalysis using chiral transition metal complexes that P-chirogenic phosphorus compounds are the most used. The chiral phosphine ligands and their uses in asymmetric metal-catalyzed reactions have been widely reviewed in literature. However, an overview covering the applications as well as the stereoselective syntheses of all classes of phosphorus compounds has not yet been provided. This review reports the bes…

Synthesis and Platinum (II) Complexes of Different Polyazacyclophane Receptors

2015

During the last years, research on coordination chemistry of platinum has aroused great interest due to their potential biological applications. Herein, we report the interaction of PtCI42- with different polyazacyclophanes containing a pyridine unit as aromatic spacer. Formation of complexes has been studied by 1H and 195Pt NMR spectroscopy. Analysis of the recorded spectra of D2O solutions containing L and PtCl42- in a 1:1 molar ratio at acidic pH shows the evolution with time of the 1H and 195Pt signals. Different crystal structures have been solved by X-ray diffraction analysis. At acidic pHs, the metal ion is coordinated by the central amino group of the macrocyclic cavity and three ch…

Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) mononuclear building blocks based on new polynucleating azomethine ligand : Synthesis and characterization

2017

Five new mononuclear complexes formed by the polynucleating ligand 2-[1-(3,5-dimethyl)pyrazolyl]-2-hydroxyimino-N′-[1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide (HL): [Ni(L)(HL)]ClO4·2CH3OH (1), [Ni(L)2]·CH3OH (2), [Zn(L)(HL)]ClO4·2CH3OH (3), [Zn(L)2]·CH3OH (4) and [Cu(L)2]·CH3OH (5) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass-spectrometry, IR-spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. The complexes reveal distorted octahedral N4O2 coordination arrangement formed by both protonated and deprotonated (1, 3) or two deprotonated ligand molecules (2, 4, 5). The presence of non-coordinated oxime and pyrazole groups resulted in the formation of extensive systems of hydrogen bonds in the crystal…

Spin Switching with Triazolate-Strapped Ferrous Porphyrins

2019

Fe(III) porphyrins bridged with 1,2,3-triazole ligands were synthesized. Upon deprotonation, the triazolate ion coordinates to the Fe(III) ion, forming an overall neutral high-spin Fe(III) porphyrin in which the triazolate serves both as an axial ligand and as the counterion. The second axial coordination site is activated for coordination and binds p-methoxypyridine, forming a six-coordinate low-spin complex. Upon addition of a phenylazopyridine as a photodissociable ligand, the spin state of the complex can be reversibly switched with ultraviolet and visible light. The system provides the basis for the development of switchable catalase- and peroxidase-type catalysts and molecular spin sw…
