In this paper, an alternative method to represent Gaussian stationary processes describing wind velocity fluctuations is introduced. The technique may be considered the extension to a time continuous description of the well-known discrete-time autoregressive model to generate Gaussian processes. Digital simulation of Gaussian random processes with assigned auto-correlation function is provided by means of a stochastic differential equation with time delayed terms forced by Gaussian white noise. Segmentation of low-cost flights users at secondary airports

Abstract Low-cost carrier services are important for many tourist destinations. However, there is little information about the characteristics of travellers using low-cost airlines, and their flight preferences. The typical segmentation of air travellers is business versus leisure travellers; and business versus tourist fares. We use segmentation analysis focusing on low-cost travellers’ valuations of various flight attributes and trip-related characteristics, most notably those related to destinations, based on a sample of foreign travellers who used Girona Airport, Spain.
The sanitation service of seagrasses – Dependencies and implications for the estimation of avoided costs

Seagrasses are capable of sanitizing coastal seawaters polluted by fecal bacteria. In this work, the reduction of Enterococci concentration in the presence of a seagrasses’ assemblage (Pacific Ocean) was related to the decrease in the probability of gastroenteritis. A linear model fitted to data extracted from the literature showed a 20% reduction of this probability in the presence of these plants. Seagrass sanitation effect was estimated to allow avoiding ca. 24 million gastroenteritis cases/year, globally. Considering a global cost of gastroenteritis of ca. Equations for a hand calculation of moment–axial force domain in the presence of shear for R.C. beam/column externally strengthened with steel angles and strips are developed. The analytical derivation is made assuming, for axial load and flexure, the equivalent stress-block parameters for internal forces, considering the confinement effects induced in the concrete core by external cages both in the cases of strips or angles yielding. Limit states due to bond failure, concrete crushing and yielding of steel angles and strips in flexure and in shear, including moment-to-shear interaction, are considered. In the ambit of the symmetric Galerkin boundary element formulation the statical shakedown load multiplier and the limit analysis are reformulated making use of macrozone modelling. The subdivision of the domain into macroelements makes it possible to deal with piecewise homogeneous materials of the body. For each macroelement a discretization of the boundary and a subdivision of the domain into portions called cells are performed in order to introduce the unknowns (i.e. traction and displacement discontinuities) on the boundary and material plastic laws appropriately interpolated.
