‘It has given me this kind of courage…’: the significance of CLIL in forming a positive target language self-concept

This article sets out to broaden the understanding of foreign language self-concept in CLIL context. The few existing studies on self-concept in CLIL have been quantitative and provided somewhat discrepant results, highlighting the need for approaching the topic qualitatively. The data of the present study are in-depth interviews with 24 former Finnish CLIL pupils who retrospectively reflected on their CLIL experiences. Her influence on the writer and her views seems decisive. For the latter, the literary recreation of her friend is a kind of catharsis. Beauvoir transposes the tragic story of Mabille to show the complexity of their relationship and the origin of her calling to be a writer. Something Mightier: Marginalization, Occult Imaginations and the Youth Conflict in the Oil-Rich Niger Delta

This contribution examines the role of occult imaginations in the struggle against perceived socio-economic marginalization by youth militias from the Ijaw ethnic group in the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It argues that the asymmetric power between the federal government/transnational oil corporations (TNOCs) and the militias may have privileged the invocation of the supernatural as a critical agency of strength and courage by the youth militias. The conflict in the region embodies a cultural revision which has been necessitated by both the uncertainty of the oil environment and the prevailing narratives of social injustice. Estrategias de afrontamiento en padres de niños con cáncer

Se pretende conocer las estrategias de afrontamiento que utilizan los padres de niños con cáncer ante al reto que supone esta enfermedad. Se ha utilizado una metodología de investigación grupal y cualitativa. La muestra la constituyen 14 madres/padres cuyos hijos hace más de dos años que han contraído la enfermedad. Se ha comprobado que los padres utilizan una gran variedad de estrategias.
