Tick-borne encephalitis virus, Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, Borrelia miyamotoi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis …

2018

The aim of this study was to determine the occurrence of tick-borne pathogens of medical importance in questing ticks collected from five recreationally used islands along the Norwegian coastline. Furthermore, since coinfection may affect the disease severity, this study aimed to determine the extent of coinfection in individual ticks or co-localization of tick-borne pathogens. In all, 4158 questing Ixodes ricinus ticks were analyzed. For detection of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), nymphs (3690) were analyzed in pools of ten. To detect Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, B. miyamotoi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis, 468 nymphs were analyzed individually…

Creativity, Comparison and Sharing in the Co-Creation of the Communication Campaign

2022

In the fourth chapter the evolution of Oltre's online campaign will be transversally analysed, focusing on the path of awareness acquisition by the second-generation youth involved in the co-creation process of the campaign. Afterwards, we will be analysing in detail the backstage of the creation of content. Through the participatory method, we will be highlighting how the content creators of our campaign selected the themes and the perspective from which to deal with them. We will be underlying how the content creators dismantled the circulating representation and built a counter-narrative or an alternative narrative and converted the idea, through a process of creative co-construction, in…

Ontological levels in the knowledge management field

2013

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between knowledge and reality in the field of management, highlighting the importance of ontological support in the formation of knowledge. The empirical study establishes those ontological levels in large Spanish firms. The article underlines the importance of ontological support and of practice carried out in forming knowledge, and reviews different approaches. The empirical study identifies, via an exploratory factor analysis, the ontological supports of knowledge in large Spanish firms, going on to apply a confirmatory factor analysis that shows the fit of the factors obtained from the sample. The discussion carried out suggests t…

Key levels for knowledge creation and management: which is the ontological locus for learning in Spanish manufacturing firms?

2013

This paper aims to highlight two core issues related to knowledge management and organisational learning. First deals with the ontological support-knowledge creation relationship. Secondly, the comparison between Crossan et al. (1999) and Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) models: on what ontological supports knowledge is created? Individuals, groups and organisation: are they independent or do they interact with each other? Is individual level swallowed up by the group [as Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) seems to suggest], leading to groups and organisation as unique ontological levels? The empirical study draws those ontological levels in large manufacturing Spanish firms. It identifies (via explorato…

Boosting organizational learning through team-based talent management: what is the evidence from large Spanish firms?

2013

Talent management (TM) can crucially help optimize organizational learning (OL) processes. The aim of this article is to study whether certain TM practices related to teamwork design and dynamics stimulate and develop learning (i.e. knowledge creation) processes within the organization and across the different ontological levels (individual, group and organizational–institutional). A model linking team-based TM and OL is tested in a sample of large Spanish companies. Our empirical results emphasize the distinction between individual–group and institutional levels of learning as the two pillars of OL. The results also highlight the role of team autonomy and creativity as crucial factors for …

Micro-Level Mechanisms to Support Value Co-Creation for Design of Digital Services

2023

This study identifies micro-level value co-creation mechanisms that support the design of digital services. As services are now becoming digital—or at least digitally enabled—how to design digital services that enable value co-creation between a service provider and customers has become an increasingly important question. Our qualitative research study provides one answer to this question. Based on 113 in-depth laddering interviews analyzed using interpretive structural modeling, our study shows that value co-creation mechanisms differ between business-to-business and customer-to-customer digital service types. We identify five mechanisms to support value co-creation in the design of digit…

The recreational value of botanic garden events: A case study of the Zagara plant fair in Palermo, Italy

2022

Botanic gardens are defined by their mission to maintain living plant collections for scientific research, conservation, display and education. This mission represents the potential ecosystem services that botanic gardens aim to produce, with display and education specifically regarding recreational ecosystem services (RES). Visitors must directly experience botanic gardens to transform these potential RES into real benefits, yet the public may not be interested in studying plants during their leisure time. Thus, botanic gardens turn to events to attract visitors. The objective of this study is to estimate the RES benefits created by a botanic garden event and profile the visitors that it b…

Correlations between a Hawking particle and its partner in a 1+1D Bose-Einstein condensate analog black hole

2020

The Fourier transform of the density-density correlation function in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) analog black hole is a useful tool to investigate correlations between the Hawking particles and their partners. It can be expressed in terms of $⟨{^{\mathrm{out}}\stackrel{^}{a}}_{\mathrm{up}}^{\mathrm{ext}}\text{ }\text{ }{^{\mathrm{out}}\stackrel{^}{a}}_{\mathrm{up}}^{\mathrm{int}}⟩$, where ${^{\mathrm{out}}\stackrel{^}{a}}_{\mathrm{up}}^{\mathrm{ext}}$ is the annihilation operator for the Hawking particle and ${^{\mathrm{out}}\stackrel{^}{a}}_{\mathrm{up}}^{\mathrm{int}}$ is the corresponding one for the partner. This basic quantity is calculated for three different models for the BEC f…
