Analysis of the effects of pulsed microwave on cardiac activity
1993
Abstract The exposure of isolated chick embryo hearts to 2.45 GHz pulse modulated microwaves has identified certain phenomena: (1) when the heartbeat was irregular, an appropriate pulse repetition rate caused regularization; (2) during regular beating, an increase of pulse repetition rate similarly increased the heartbeat frequency, until an irregular heartbeat appeared; (3) by applying microwaves, when an arrhythmia occurs, a regular beat appeared after a few seconds. Time correlation between the heartbeat and the modulating pulses revealed that regularization occurs when the modulation pulses, at a frequency close to the natural unperturbed heartbeat, were applied in the ventricular diast…
Origin of the substrate current after soft-breakdown in thin oxide n-MOSFETs
1999
In this paper is presented an experimental investigation on the origin of the substrate current after soft-breakdown in n-MOSFETs with 4.5 nm-thick oxide. At lower voltages this current shows a plateau that can be explained with the generation of hole-electron pairs in the space charge region and at the Si-SiO2 interface, and to carrier diffusion between the channel and the substrate. At higher voltages the substrate current steeply increases with voltage, due to trap-assisted tunneling from the substrate valence band to the gate conduction band, which becomes possible for gate voltages higher than the threshold voltage. Measurements on several devices at dark and in the presence of light, …
Dynamic doping in bright and stable light emitting electrochemical cells.
2013
By using fast current density and luminance versus voltage (JL-V) analysis the device operation of sandwiched light emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) during their normal voltage driving operation mode is studied. In LECs the application of a voltage results in the movement of ions changing the state of the device, as a result the JL-V scans need to be performed fast and meet certain conditions to be meaningful. Space-charge limited current behavior is observed once the injection barriers are overcome. The increase of the current density after this point imply that the effective thickness of the devices is reduced which indicates the formation of more conductive regions adjacent to the e…
Hybrid Circuits with Nanofluidic Diodes and Load Capacitors
2017
[EN] The chemical and physical input signals characteristic of micro- and nanofluidic devices operating in ionic solutions should eventually be translated into output electric currents and potentials that are monitored with solid-state components. This crucial step requires the design of hybrid circuits showing robust electrical coupling between ionic solutions and electronic elements. We study experimentally and theoretically the connectivity of the nanofluidic diodes in single-pore and multipore membranes with conventional capacitor systems for the cases of constant, periodic, and white-noise input potentials. The experiments demonstrate the reliable operation of these hybrid circuits ove…
Characterisation of cw Nd : YAG laser keyhole dynamics
2001
Abstract The paper concerns laser–matter interaction characterisation. In this work, we use a rapid CCD camera located coaxially to the laser beam and we compare recorded images with those obtained by numerical modelling. Because images are difficult to understand, we compute thermal radiation emitted by a keyhole of fixed geometry and we adjust it trying to approach the camera record. The modelling treats radiative heat transfer within the keyhole and determines the sensor illumination map. By adjusting the geometrical characteristics of the hole, we seek to obtain the image that corresponds as well as possible to the realised experiment. Results are compared with other experimental method…

Structural, Optical, and Dielectric Investigations of the Relaxor PLZT 9,75/65/35 Ceramics Irradiated by High-Current Pulsed Electron Beam
2003
A comprehensive study of high-current pulsed electron irradiation effects on the structural, optical and dielectric properties of relaxor (Pb (1-x )La x )(Zr 0.65 Ti 0.35 ) 1-x/4 O 3 ceramics with x = 9,75 at.% has been performed for the first time. The electron beam had the following parameters: energy E = 250 keV, current density I = 1000 A/cm 2 , pulse duration τ = 300 ns, beam density -10 15 electrons/cm 2 per pulse. Infrared reflectivity spectra in the region of 100 ÷ 2000 cm -1 were obtained in virgin, irradiated by 1500 pulses and annealed up to 500°C ceramics. The reconstruction of perovskite ABO 3 structure in irradiated samples has been studied by combined use of X-ray diffraction…

2003
First time comprehensive study of high-current pulsed electron irradiation effects on the structural, optical and dielectric properties of relaxor (Pb(1-x)Lax)(Zr0.65Ti0.35)1-x/4O3 ceramics with x = 4 and 9.75 at.% have been provided. The electron beam had the following parameters: energy E = 250 keV, current density I = 1000 A/cm2, pulse duration τ = 300 ns, beam density - 1015 electrons/cm2 per pulse. Infrared reflectivity spectra in the region of 100 ÷ 2000 cm-1 were obtained in virgin, irradiated by 1500 pulses. The reconstruction of perovskite ABO3 structure in irradiated samples has been studied by complex use of X-ray and neutron scattering and IR spectroscopy techniques revealing th…

2015
A new electrical current measurement system is presented. It features the ability to dynamically and automatically change its measurement range to the sensed current amplitude without user action. It also exhibits galvanic isolation and near zero insertion loss characteristics.
Transconductance Converters Based on Current Mirrors Applied to pH Measurement Using ISFET Sensors
2009
New transconductance circuits (V/I converters) are designed based on current mirrors and operational amplifiers. Their input/output characteristics and the influence of DC parameters are obtained. Experimental results were performed, comparing them with the simulated results. An electronic instrumentation circuit is designed based on one of the transconductance converters analyzed. The purpose of this circuit was to condition the response of an ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET) to measure pH. In the proposed application, the V/I converter presented provides the stability and accuracy of the ISFET operating point, making an easy characterization procedure and the design of multic…
