Modeling offenses among motorcyclists involved in crashes in Spain.

In relative terms, Spanish motorcyclists are more likely to be involved in crashes than other drivers and this tendency is constantly increasing. The objective of this study is to identify the factors that are related to being an offender in motorcycle accidents. A binary logit model is used to differentiate between offender and non-offender motorcyclists. A motorcyclist was considered to be offender when s/he had committed at least one traffic offense at the moment previous to the crash. Cardiorespiratory and Neuromuscular Responses to Motocross Riding

The aim of the present study was to examine physiological and neuromuscular responses during motocross riding at individual maximal speed together with the riding-induced changes in maximal isometric force production. Seven A-level (group A) and 5 hobby-class (group H) motocross-riders performed a 30-minute riding test on a motocross track and maximal muscle strength and oxygen uptake (VO2max) tests in a laboratory. During the riding the mean (+/-SD) VO2 reduced in group A from 86 +/- 10% to 69 +/- 6% of the maximum (P < 0.001), whereas in group H the corresponding reduction was from 94 +/- 25% to 82 +/- 20% (P < 0.05). [EN] Purpose: To introduce a new application (ClinicCSF) to measure Contrast Sensitivity Function (CSF) with tablet devices, and to compare it against the Functional Acuity Contrast Test (FACT). Methods: A total of 42 subjects were arranged in two groups of 21 individuals. Different versions of the ClinicCSF (.v1 and .v2) were used to measure the CSF of each group with the same iPad and the results were compared with those measured with the FACT. Visual quality differences between orthokeratology and LASIK to compensate low-moderate myopia.

PURPOSE: To assess the differences in visual performance between orthokeratology (ortho-k) and laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for the treatment of low-to-moderate myopia. METHODS: An adaptive optics visual simulator (Imagine Eyes) was used to simulate the wavefront aberration patterns induced by ortho-k and LASIK for low and moderate myopia on 10 healthy eyes. Visual acuity (VA) at 100%, 50%, and 10% contrast levels and contrast sensitivity (CS) at 10, 20 and 25 cycles per degree (cpd) were then measured for 3- and 6-mm pupil sizes. The first total synthesis of the naturally occurring dihydropyranone dodoneine is reported. Abstract The reactivity of several hydroxy selenides bearing an ethereal chain with catalytic amounts of perchloric acid in dichloromethane was investigated. Results showed that the position of the oxygen atom with respect to the seleniranium ring was crucial in order to get a good yield of the cyclized product. The factors on which yields of the 5- endo cyclization of the seleniranium ions depend were analysed by ab initio (HF/3-21G ∗ ) studies. An explanation of the different coordinating ability, towards the positively charged selenium atom, of the allylic OMe and homoallylic OH-2 groups was given.
Milankovitch and sub-Milankovitch forcing of the Oxfordian (Late Jurassic) Terres Noires Formation (SE France) and global implications

ABSTRACT High‐resolution analysis (2277 samples) of magnetic susceptibility (MS) was performed on ∼700‐m‐thick Early–Middle Oxfordian marine marls of the Terres Noires Formation, SE France. MS variations within these sediments record sub‐Milankovitch to Milankovitch frequencies with long‐term eccentricity (405 kyr and ∼2 Myr) being the most prominent. The 405 kyr cycle was used as a high‐resolution geochronometer for astronomical calibration of this poorly constrained interval of Late Jurassic time.
