Anion coordination chemistry in aqueous solution of polyammonium receptors
2006
The behavior of polyamines as receptors of selected families of anions in water is explored. First metallocyanide interaction with saturated polyammonium hosts is analyzed both in solution and in the solid state. The utility of potentiometry, multinuclear NMR, microcalorimetry and cyclic voltammetry to describe solution features of this chemistry is described for selected systems. Sulfate, phosphate, polyphosphate and nucleotide interactions with large polyammonium receptors are then reviewed. Hydrogen bond formation is discussed from a thermodynamic point of view. The influence of the presence of aromatic fragments within the structure on the binding strength is discussed. Factors affectin…
Unexpected formation of chroman-4-ones during the synthesis of 4-hydroxymethyl-2H-chromenes from 4-aryloxybut-2-yn-1-ols
1986
Abstract The unexpected formation of chroman-4-ones by refluxing 4-aryloxybut-2-yn-1-ols in diethylaniline has been studied, 4-hydroxymethyl-2H-chromene and chroman-4-carboxaldehyde derivatives being established as intennediates.
Cyclocondensation reaction of 1,2-diamino-4-methylbenzene andp-substituted acetophenones
1993
1,2-Diamino-4-methylbenzene 1 reacts in the presence of sulphuric acid with 4-substituted acetophenones 2a-e yielding 2,4-diaryl-2,3-dihydro-2,8-dimethyl-1H-1,5-benzodiazepines 3a-e and as minor component 2,4-diaryl-2,3-dihydro-2,7-dimethyl-1H-1,5-benzodiazepines 4a-e. The ratio 3:4 is in the range of 7:3. The structure determination of the regioisomers was performed by NOE measurements.
Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of enantiomerically pure endo-configured KOR agonists with 2-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane scaffold
2021
Conformationally restricted bicyclic KOR agonists 10 with an endo configured amino moiety were synthesized to analyze the bioactive conformation of conformationally flexible KOR agonists such as 2-5. A seven-step, chiral pool synthesis starting with (S)-configured 4-oxopiperidine-2-carboxylate 13 was developed. cis and trans configured diesters 12 were obtained in a 3:1 ratio via hydrogenation of the α,β unsaturated ester 14. After establishment of the bicyclic scaffold, a diastereoselective reductive amination of ketone 11 provided exclusively the endo configured bicyclic amines 10a,b. The 3:1 mixtures of enantiomers were separated by chiral HPLC, respectively, leading to enantiomerically …
Chemoenzymatische „Chiral-Pool”-Synthese von (+)-exo-Brevicomin aus Kohlenhydraten mit Fructose-1,6-diphosphat-Aldolase
1990
Chemoenzymatic “Chiral-Pool” Synthesis of (+)-exo-Brevicomin from Carbohydrates Using Fructose 1,6-Diphosphate Aldolase Fructose-1,6-diphosphate aldolase (EC 4.1.2.13) catalyzes the stereospecific aldol reaction between 1,3-dihydroxyacetone phosphate (4) and 5-oxohexanal (3) or its 5-dithiane-protected analog 8. The products of the aldol reactions are dephosphorylated with acid phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.2). Whereas the aldol adduct of 3 cyclizes spontaneously to give the bicyclic brevicomin precursor 3, the adduct of 8 first has to be deprotected with sulfuryl chloride and wet silica gel. The resulting bicyclic α-hydroxy ketone 3 is reduced with LiAlH4 to form the 1,2-diol 14 which is then deox…
Neue extrem deformierte (Biphenylen‐)Kohlenwasserstoff‐Gerüste
1992
New Extremely Deformed (Biphenylene)Hydrocarbon Skeletons The tetracyclic carbon skeleton 2-oxo[3](1,8)biphenylenophane (4) was synthesized by cyclization of a mixture of the bis(bromomethyl) compounds 7a, b with p-tolylsulfonylmethyl isocyanide. 2-Hydroxy[3](1,8)biphenylenophane (5) and the [3](1,8)biphenylenophane hydrocarbon 6 were obtained by reduction of 4 with LiAlH4 and NaBH4, respectively. X-ray analyses of 4 and 6 illustrate the dramatic deformation of bond lengths and angles in these molecules.
Lauroyl peroxide as thermal initiator of lauryl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC
2008
The preparation of lauryl methacrylate (LMA)-based monolithic columns for CEC using lauroyl peroxide (LPO) as thermal initiator of polymerization has been investigated. The influence of initiator amount and composition of porogenic solvent on the physical and electrochromatographic properties of the resulting LMA-based monoliths was evaluated. A comparison with LMA-based columns thermally polymerized with AIBN was performed. At a given porogenic solvent composition, LMA stationary phases initiated with LPO showed higher permeabilities and better efficiency values than those prepared using AIBN as initiator. The optimum polymerization mixture found for LPO initiator provided a minimum plate …
Bimodal Effect of Amphiphilic Biocide Concentrations on Fluidity of Lipid Membranes
1996
Abstract Using the spin label method (ESR) it has been shown that biologically active, amphiphilic compounds (quaternary ammonium salts -AS) containing polar heads with single and double positive charge caused, at low concentrations, decrease fluidity of liposome membranes formed with egg yolk lecithin (EYL). At higher concentrations an increase in fluidity was observed. With compounds having a single positive charge minimum fluidity of membrane structure occurs in the range of 1 to 3%, with compounds containing double positive charge -in the range of 4 -6 % . That effect does not depend on polar head size and length of alkyl chains of the AS used. Analysis of the electrostatic interaction …
The Role of Planarity versus Nonplanarity in the Electronic Communication of TCAQ-Based Push–Pull Chromophores
2018
Donor-acceptor-substituted alkynes, endowed with 11,11,12,12-tetracyano-9,10-anthraquinodimethane (TCAQ) and N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA) units, have been further functionalized by a [2+2] cycloaddition with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) followed by a subsequent retro-electrocyclization to form distorted nonplanar structures with bridging 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobuta-1,3-diene (TCBD) units. Comprehensive spectroscopic, electrochemical, and computational studies have been carried out to compare the electronic communication in planar (alkyne bridges) and nonplanar (TCBD bridges) TCAQ-based push-pull chromophores. Cyclic voltammetry and UV/Vis absorption measurements confirm the electronic communication be…
Voltammetric Identification of Lead(II) and (IV) in Mediaeval Glazes in Abrasion-Modified Carbon Paste and Polymer Film Electrodes. Application to th…
2000
Direct identification of lead(II) and (IV) in glazed ceramics by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry is described. Characteristic cathodic and anodic profiles are obtained for microsample coatings in Paraloid B72-film electrodes immersed in NaCl and HAc/NaAc media. The electrochemical response of PbO, PbO2 and Pb3O4, and a series of test specimens of glaze is compared with that of microsamples extracted from the glaze of blue and white decorated ceramic produced in Manises (Spain) in the 15th century which have been buried in a damp place. Under abrasive conditions, striping peaks at –0.12 and –0.25 V (vs. SCE) appear for Pb(IV) centers and, at –0.55 and –0.75 V, for Pb(II…
