Gynecological Disorders in Patients with Non-celiac Wheat Sensitivity
2019
Background: Non-celiac wheat sensitivity (NCWS) most frequently presents clinically with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)-like symptoms, although many extra-intestinal manifestations have also been attributed to it. No studies to date have evaluated the presence and frequency of gynecological symptoms in NCWS. Aim: To evaluate the frequency of gynecological disorders in patients with NCWS. Patients and Methods: Sixty-eight women with NCWS were included in the study. A questionnaire investigating gynecological symptoms and recurrent cystitis was administered, and patients reporting symptoms were then examined by specialists. Three control groups were selected: 52 patients with IBS not related …
Permeability of the rat bladder to Cisplatinum under different conditions: comparison with Mitomycin C and Adriamycin.
1983
In 50 female Sprague-Dawley rats the absorption of Cisplatinum through the bladder wall was studied. Under different conditions, including cystitis and electrocoagulation of the bladder mucosa, the absorption was low and the measureable serum concentrations did not exceed 2.64 micrograms/ml. The influence of Tween 80--a non-ionic surfactant--on the absorption is investigated. The results are compared with those found for Adriamycin and Mitomycin C under identical conditions.
PROPHYLACTIC BLADDER INSTILLATIONS WITH IALURIL (R) MAY REDUCE SYMPTOMS OF ACUTE RADIATION CYSTITIS IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING RADIOTHERAPY FOR PELVIC TU…
2012
Introduction: Acute radiation cystitis (RC) is a common and debilitating problem in patients undergoing radiotherapy for urogenital malignancies. Acute RC symptoms include painful micturition, urgency, frequency, and nicturia We studied the feasibility and efficacy of intravesical instillations with Ialuril® (sodium hyaluronate and chondroitin sulfate sterile solution) to reduce acute radiation cystitis in men and women undergoing pelvic radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: The single-arm study was performed between September 2010 and June 2011 and included 15 patients who met the following criteria: primary or adjuvant radiotherapy for pelvic cancer. Exclusion criteria were: bladder cancer…
Difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy and preoperative predictive factors
2021
AbstractLaparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the standard technique for treatment of gallbladder disease. In case of acute cholecystitis we can identify preoperative factors associated with an increased risk of conversion and intraoperative complications. The aim of our study was to detect preoperative laboratory and radiological findings predictive of difficult LC with potential advantages for both the surgeons and patients in terms of options for management. We designed a retrospective case–control study to compare preoperative predictive factors of difficult LC in patients treated in emergency setting between January 2015 and December 2019. We included in the difficult LC group the surge…
Clinical and therapeutic features of acute cholecystitis in diabetic patients
2021
The present study aimed to compare the clinical, paraclinical, intraoperative findings, and postoperative complications in acute cholecystitis in diabetic patients vs. non-diabetic patients. A 2-year retrospective study was performed on the patients who underwent emergency cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis between 2017 and 2019 at the 4th Department of Surgery, Emergency University Hospital Bucharest. The diabetic subgroup numbered 46 eligible patients and the non-diabetic one 287 patients. Demographics, the severity of the clinical forms, biological variables (including white cell count, urea, creatinine, coagulation and liver function tests) comorbidity status, surgical approach, po…
Intravesical mitoxantrone in superficial bladder tumours (Ta-T1)
1993
Abstract 36 patients with histologically proven grade G1–G2, Ta-T1 transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were introduced, after transurethral resection (TUR), into a study of intravesical chemoprophylaxis with mitoxantrone (20 mg diluted in 50 ml). After a mean follow-up of 23 months, 16 (50%) patients showed a superficial recurrence with a mean recurrence rate of 0.56 per year. In 19 patients with recurring tumours the mean recurrence rate decreased from 1.65 to 0.58 per year. 9 patients (25.7%) suffered from a chemical cystitis that in 2 cases (5.7%) required treatment interruption.
Genotypic Analysis of E. coli Strains Isolated from Patients with Cystitis and Pyelonephritis
2012
BACKGROUND: Urinary tract infection is the most common health problem affecting millions of people each year, mainly caused by a large genetically heterogeneous group of Escherichia coli called uropathogenic E. coli This study investigates the genotypic analysis of E. coli strains isolated from patients with cystitis and pyelonephritis. METHODS: During 2008-2009, 90 E. coli strains were analyzed, consisting of 48 isolates causing pyelonephritis in children and 42 isolates causing cystitis. Having identified the strains by standard methods, they were subtyped by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and their corresponding patterns were compared using dendrogram. RESULTS: Sixty five PFGE p…
Dacriocistitis por Candida Lusitaniae
2007
