Salix tarraconensis Pau ex Font Quer, an endemic willow species from northeast Spain, was micropropagated with nodal segments. Shoot multiplication was obtained with different cytokinins, either on Murashige and Skoog medium or woody plant medium. Best results for shoot formation were obtained on Murashige and Skoog medium containing 4.9 μM of 6-γ-γ-dimethylallylaminopurine. Shoots showed strong apical dominance, and some cultures displayed apical necrosis. Benzyladenine gave the worst results; shoots displayed very slow growth, deformed leaves, and hyperhydrity. In this study, the encapsulation technology based on the calcium alginate coating was applied to some Ficus carica L. genotypes. Uninodal microcuttings (3-4 mm long), excised from in vitro proliferating shoots of three Italian cultivars (‘Bifera’, ‘Palazzo’ and ‘Catalanisca’), were employed. Morphogenesis in Root Tip Meristem Cultures of Digitalis obscura L.

Summary The morphogenic capacity of Digitalis obscura L. root tip meristems cultured in vitro has been studied, noting hormonal factors inducing differentiation and development of shoots as well as those promoting somatic embryogenesis. Caulogenesis was obtained with different auxin/cytokinin combinations but a high rate of shoot regeneration was induced by 0.1 or 0.5 ppm IAA and 1.0 ppm BA. Different stages of somatic embryo development were observed in media supplemented with auxins or high auxin/cytokinin ratios, although no complete plant regeneration was achieved. This is the first report known of shoot regeneration from root tips of Digitalis obscura L.

Explants taken from the leaves of yams (Dioscorea bulbifera L.) at different stages of development were cultured in vitro on a checkerboard using various combinations and/or concentrations of auxin (2,4-d) and cytokinin (6-BAP). An addition of cytokinin to the culture media was not essential for callus induction from explants derived from young leaves in the very early stages of expansion. Hormonal regulatory processes controlling in vitro morphogenesis of grapevine inflorescence primordia, excised from latent buds from November to April, were investigated. Cytokinin (benzylaminopurine, BAP), gibberellin (GA3) and auxin (3-indolebutyric acid, IBA) were used at 1 mg/L. BAP induced branch development and flower calyx differentiation. Citrus tristeza virus (CTV), worldwide considered as one of the worst disease affecting Citrus plants, produced great changes in citriculture, mainly because it made mandatory the turnover of the sensitive sour orange rootstock with virus resistant ones.
