Storytelling Projects on Native American Children's Literature for Primary English Education: A Case Study

This article describes the experience of a storytelling project undertaken at the University of Alicante (Spain) in a course entitled 'Didactics of English Language', followed as part of a BA degree in Primary Education (for students 6-12 years old). The storytelling project was designed by the author of this article and involved student teachers who developed an innovative design integrating Native American children's and young adult literature by authors Joy Harjo, Luci Tapahonso, Simon Ortiz, Michael Caduto and Joseph Bruchac, among others. d-Alanyl-d-Alanine Carboxypeptidase in the Bacterial Form and L-Form of Proteus mirabilis

Membranes of the bacterial form and the stable and unstable L-forms of Proteus mirabilis contain LD and DD-carboxypeptidase. The DD-carboxypeptidase is inhibited non-competitively by penicillin G. The enzyme of the bacterial form is highly penicillin-sensitive (Ki - 4 X 10(-9) M penicillin G). Inhibition is only partly reversible by treatment with penicillinase or by dialysis against buffer. In contrast, the DD-carboxypeptidase of the unstable L-form, grown in the presence of penicillin, is 175-fold less penicillin-sensitive (Ki = 7 X 10(7) M penicillin G). Freescoo is an innovative all-in-one compact solar Desiccant Evaporative Cooling (DEC) air conditioner concept. Results of the first prototype developed were presented at SHC Conference last year. Now a second generation of freescoo prototypes for applications in residential and small office buildings have been installed in Italy at ENEA Casaccia and at UNIPA. Halloysite nanotubes for efficient loading, stabilization and controlled release of insulin

Hypothesis: Oral insulin administration is not actually effective due to insulin rapid degradation, inactivation and digestion by proteolytic enzymes which results in low bioavailability. Moreover insulin is poorly permeable and lack of lipophilicity. These limits can be overcome by the loading of protein in some nanostructured carrier such as halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). High-pressure/high-temperature phase diagram of zinc

The phase diagram of zinc (Zn) has been explored up to 140 GPa and 6000K, by combining optical observations, x-ray diffraction, and ab initio calculations. In the pressure range covered by this study, Zn is found to retain a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) crystal symmetry up to the melting temperature. The known decrease of the axial ratio (c/a) of the hcp phase of Zn under compression is observed in x-ray diffraction experiments from 300K up to the melting temperature. The pressure at which c/a reaches root 3 (approximate to 10GPa) is slightly affected by temperature. Microscopic evidence of a flat melting curve of tantalum

International audience; New data on the high-pressure melting curve of Ta up to 48GPa are reported. Evidence of melting from changes in sample texture was found in five different experiments using scanning electron microscopy. The obtained melting temperatures are in excellent agreement with earlier measurements using x-ray diffraction or the laser-speckled method but are in contrast with several theoretical calculations. The results are also compared with shock-wave data. NMDA receptor antagonist treatment increases the production of new neurons in the aged rat hippocampus

The production of new neurons declines during adulthood and persists, although at very low levels, in the aged hippocampus. Since neurogenesis in young adults has been related to learning and memory, its reduction may contribute to the age-related impairments in these abilities. The review provides an overview of the mesoporous inorganic particles employed as drug delivery systems for controlled and sustained release of drugs. We have classified promising nanomaterials for drug delivery on the basis of their natural or synthetic origin.
