Water balance and pollutant removal efficiency when considering evapotranspiration in a pilot-scale horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland in…
2016
Abstract In constructed wetland systems (CWs) for wastewater treatment, the performance of the system is affected by evapotranspiration (ET). This study shows the results of a series of water balance and pollutant removal efficiency analyses taken from a pilot horizontal-subsurface flow system (HSSFs) in the West of Sicily (Italy). The system comprised three separate units, one planted with Cyperus alternifolius L., one planted with Typha latifolia L. and an unplanted unit. The system was fed with urban wastewater from an activated-sludge wastewater treatment plant. The aims of the study were to determine water balance and pollutant removal rates when considering evapotranspiration in two r…
Management of Arfak Rainbow Fish Based on Bioecologycal Aspect (Case in Some River in Manokwari)
2018
The aim of this research is to study the bioecological aspect of Arfak Rainbowfish, distribution long-wieght frequency and management of endemic arfak rainbow fish in Manokwari. This study conducted for five months from 7 September 2015 to 9 Januari 2016. Fish sample were collected from Prafi river, Nimbai river and Aimasi river and brought to fisheries laboratory. The method of this research is descriptive methode with field observation. The result of water quality parameters are temperature average 30.01oC±1,06oC, flow rate is slow 0.92±0,12, the pH 7,80±0,12, oxygen solute 5,38±0,24, average biological oxygen demand for Prafi river 4 mg/L, Nimbai river 3.1 mg/L, Aimasi river 5.2 mg/L and…
A hydrodynamic water quality model for propagation of pollutants in rivers.
2010
Numerical modelling can be a useful tool to assess a receiving water body's quality state. Indeed, the use of mathematical models in river water quality management has become a common practice to show the cause-effect relationship between emissions and water body quality and to design as well as assess the effectiveness of mitigation measures. In the present study, a hydrodynamic river water quality model is presented. The model consists of a quantity and a quality sub-model. The quantity sub-model is based on the Saint Venant equations. The solution of the Saint Venant equations is obtained by means of an explicit scheme based on space-time conservation. The method considers the unificatio…
Leachate formation and characteristics from gasification and grate incineration bottom ash under landfill conditions
2011
Characteristics and formation of leachates from waste gasification and grate firing bottom ash were studied using continuous field measurements from 112 m(3) lysimeters embedded into landfill body for three years. In addition, the total element concentrations of the fresh ash were analysed and laboratory batch tests were performed to study leachate composition. The three-year continuous flow measurement showed that about one fifth of the leachates were formed, when the flow rate was200 l/d, covering3.5% of the study time. After three years, the liquid/solid-ratio for the quenched grate ash was 1 (l/kg (d.m.)) and for the initially dry gasification ash 0.4 (l/kg (d.m.)). The low initial wate…
Cassava starch processing at small scale in North Vietnam
2008
International audience; In Northern Vietnam, small-scale cassava starch processing is conducted in densely populated craft villages, where processors face difficulties to expand their activities. Three different processing systems were studied among a cluster of three communes in the Red River Delta, producing up to 430 t of starch (at 55% dry matter) per day. The first system, type A, is a cylindrical rasper and a manual sieve, the second, type B, is a cylindrical rasper and stirring-filtering machine and the third, type C, used equipment for both the rasping and filtering stages. Moisture, starch, crude fibers and ash content analysis were carried out on samples collected from the A-B-C m…
Kondisi Fisika Kimia Air Sungai Yang Bermuara di Teluk Sawaibu Kabupaten Manokwari
2017
This research was conducted in three small rivers (Momo, Sahara and Konto), which empties into the Gulf Sawaibu Manokwari District. Water sampling for the third observation station made for the measurement of physical parameters such as temperature, TDS, TSS and turbidity, and chemical parameters pH, DO, COD, BOD, nitrate (NO3), phosphate (PO4) and Ammonia. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical quality of the river water chemistry research sites, and compared with water quality standards based on Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 on water quality management and water pollution control. The results of measurements of physical and chemical parameters is the temperature ra…
APLIKASI MEDIA BATU APUNG PADA BIOFILTER ANAEROBIK UNTUK PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH CAIR RUMAH POTONG AYAM
2018
Anaerobic treatment of urban wastewater in membrane bioreactors: evaluation of seasonal temperature variations
2014
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of seasonal temperature variations on the anaerobic treatment of urban wastewater in membrane bioreactors (MBRs). To this aim, sludge production, energy recovery potential, chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal and membrane permeability were evaluated in a submerged anaerobic MBR fitted with industrial-scale membrane units. The plant was operated for 172 days, between summer and winter seasons. Sludge production increased and energy recovery potential decreased when temperature decreased. COD removal and membrane permeability remained nearby stable throughout the whole experimental period.
Forecast Output Coincidence and Biproportion: Two Criteria to Determine the Orientation of an Economy. Comparison for France (1980-1997)
2002
International audience; The method of forecast output coincidence used to determine if sectors are demand-sided or supply-sided in an input-output framework mixes two effects, the structural effect (choosing between demand and supply side models) and the effect of an exogenous factor (final demand or added-value). The note recalls that another method is possible, the comparison of the stability of technical and allocation coefficients, generalized by the biproportional filter: if for a sector, after biproportional filtering, column coefficients are more stable than row coefficients, then this sector is declared as not supply-sided (but one cannot decide that it is demand-sided anyway), and …
The variations of technical and allocation coefficients : are they comparable really ?
1995
Two great alternative hypothesis are possible in the analysis input-output : the model may be demand-driven (Leontief) or supply-driven (Ghosh). To test the consistency of these hypotheses on the long term, this paper studies the interest of proportional filters (comparison of column or row coefficients) and the interest of the biproportional filter for the temporalcomparison of input-output matrices. An application is proposed for France between 1980 and 1993. The result is the following : in the long period, there are more sectors supply-driven than demand-driven (i.e. row coefficients are less variable than column coefficients for the majority of the sectors). (FRE) Deux grandes hypothès…
