Vēlētāju likumdošanas iniciatīvas tiesības ir būtisks tiešās demokrātijas realizācijas instruments, ar kura starpniecību tautai kā suverēnam ir iespēja likumdošanas procesa ceļā tieši iesaistīties valstiski svarīgu lēmumu pieņemšanā. Latvija ir viena no valstīm, kuras konstitūcijā ir paredzētas vēlētāju likumdošanas iniciatīvas tiesības. Tomēr prakse rāda, ka pašreizējā parlamentārā likumdevēja noteiktā kārtība šo tiesību realizācijai ir uzskatāma par neefektīvu. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izveidot Rīgas pilsētas Maskavas priekšpilsētas iedzīvotāju sociālo portretu kā noteiktas sabiedrības grupas kopīgo raksturojumu un aplūkot, kādi vēsturiskie aspekti ietekmēja šāda procesa norisi un kā demogrāfiskas izmaiņas ietekmēja aplūkotās teritorijas attīstību no 19. gadsimta beigām līdz 1914. gadam. Darbā tiek analizēts, kādi faktori ietekmēja iedzīvotāju sastāva izmaiņas. The wage curve and local monopsony power

AbstractUsing longitudinal micro-data from Finland, a country with a geographically dispersed population and relatively long distances between local labor markets, this paper examines the responsiveness of the pay level to local unemployment conditions. In particular, this study tests the hypothesis that the pay level is more responsive to the unemployment level in less agglomerated and more remote regions as might be expected if employers have a higher degree of monopsony power in such regions. Domestic violence in Africa: a glance through the DHS survey

Recent data states that 33 per cent of women in Sub-Saharan Africa are survivors of domestic violence. This work aims at assessing the association between women’s characteristics, their environment, and their history of violence in fifteen African countries. Three kinds of violence were explored: physical, emotional and sexual, each one exerted by the current partner. The data are from Demographic and Health Survey, in which a special module assessed domestic violence in female respondents. In the Sumerian and Akkadian mythological literature, the ruler of the city of Uruk, Gilgameš, uproots and/or cuts down trees on several occasions: the ḫalub-tree (mahaleb cherry) linked to the goddess Inanna and the eren (juniper)/erēnu (cedar) trees of the Forest guarded by Ḫuwawa. These trees should be understood as elements of a wider "wilderness", with which they share a powerful and ambiguous ontological otherness, as opposed to the city and the country of Sumer. The observation of winged words on the Internet shows that the most memorable ones are those that come from the school reading canon and that they become an element of verbal-visual games in demotivators. At the same time, the Internet has become a catalyst, a place where very quickly the emergence of new units takes place. It is infl uenced by its unlimited range and technical capabilities that allow copying, duplication and modifi cation of new units. Adding a graphical element to them in the demotivators strengthens their impact on the recipient, allows them to evoke various emotions and, as a result, easier to remember and willing to share them with subsequent Internet users.

El uso de Internet y de sus posibilidades de persuasión e interacción ha convertido a los ciudadanos en actores políticos. Internet y las nuevas tecnologías no son un medio más, sino el reflejo organizativo de la nueva cultura política del ciberactivismo. Esta investigación ofrece datos sobre las características que tiene esa interacción dentro de un proceso de movilización política.
