AbstractKnowledge of nucleation and further growth of Bi2Se3 nanoplates on different substrates is crucial for obtaining ultrathin nanostructures and films of this material by physical vapour deposition technique. In this work, Bi2Se3 nanoplates were deposited under the same experimental conditions on different types of graphene substrates (as-transferred and post-annealed chemical vapour deposition grown monolayer graphene, monolayer graphene grown on silicon carbide substrate). Another "French paradox": explaining why interest rates to microenterprises dit not increase with the change in French usury legislation

Conventional wisdom indicates that the growth of credit may not materialize if credit rates remain capped by usury laws, as had long been the case in France. France therefore abolished usury ceilings on loans to microenterprise in an effort to increase financing for microentrepreneurs. This should have led to an increase in interest rates and increase in microcredit. However, we do not find any increase in interest rates and this is therefore a paradox. The paper provides a brief literature review and the salient features of the legislative changes in France. It follows this up with a presentation of interest rate movements. Sedimentary environment, lithostratigraphy and dating of sediment sequences from Arctic lakes Revvatnet and Svartvatnet in Hornsund, Svalbard

Abstract The sedimentary environment, sediment characteristics and age-depth models of sediment sequences from Arctic lakes Revvatnet and Svartvatnet, located near the Polish Polar Station in Hornsund, southern Svalbard (77°N), were studied with a view to establishing a basis for paleolimnological climate and environmental reconstructions. The results indicate that catchment-to-lake hydroclimatic processes probably affect the transportation, distribution and accumulation of sediments in different parts of lakes Revvatnet and Svartvatnet. Response of total and nitrate-dissimilating bacteria to reduced N deposition in a spruce forest soil profile

A field-scale manipulation experiment conducted for 16 years in a Norway spruce forest at Solling, Central Germany, was used to follow the long-term response of total soil bacteria, nitrate reducers and denitrifiers under conditions of reduced N deposition. N was experimentally removed from throughfall by a roof construction (‘clean rain plot’). As comparative data on the precision of 3D-printed anatomical models are sparse, the aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of 3D-printed models of vascular anatomy generated by two commonly used printing technologies. Thirty-five 3D models of large (aortic, wall thickness of 2 mm, n = 30) and small (coronary, wall thickness of 1.25 mm, n = 5) vessels printed with fused deposition modeling (FDM) (rigid, n = 20) and PolyJet (flexible, n = 15) technology were subjected to high-resolution CT scans. Partial substitution of fish meal with vegetable protein sources in a diet for sea bass: effects on lipogenesis

Three isoproteic (49.4%) and isolipidic (17.0%) diets were prepared: A control diet FM, in which protein was derived from fish meal and two experimental diets in which 70% of the fish meal protein was substituted with wheat gluten meal (WGM) or wheat gluten meal plus soybean meal (WGMsb), respectively. Pressure dependence of the optical properties of wurtzite and rock-salt Zn1–xCoxO thin films

In this paper we investigate the electronic structure of Zn 1-x Co x O by means of optical absorption measurements under pressure. Thin films of Zn 1-x Co x O with different Co content (from 1 to 30%) were prepared by pulsed laser deposition on mica substrates. Absorption spectra exhibit three main features that are clearly correlated to the Co content in the films: (i) absorption peaks in the infrared associated to crystal-field-split internal transitions in the Co 3d shell, with very small pressure coefficients due to their atomic character; (ii) a broad absorption band below the fundamental edge associated to charge transfer transitions, that exhibit relatively large pressure coefficient…

Ag11(SG)7 : A New Cluster Identified by Mass Spectrometry and Optical Spectroscopy

We report a one-step and high yield synthesis of a red-luminescent silver cluster with the molecular formula, Ag11(SG)7 (SG: glutathionate) via reduction of silver ions by sodium borohydride in the presence of the tripeptide, glutathione (GSH). The as-prepared cluster shows prominent absorption features at 485 and 625 nm in its UV-vis absorption spectrum. Aging of the as-prepared cluster solution led to the disappearance of the 625 nm peak, followed by broadening of the 485 nm peak to give three maxima at ?487, 437, and 393 nm in its absorption spectrum.
