Matching stages of heavy-ion collision models

2010

Heavy-ion reactions and other collective dynamical processes are frequently described by different theoretical approaches for the different stages of the process, like initial equilibration stage, intermediate locally equilibrated fluid dynamical stage, and final freeze-out stage. For the last stage, the best known is the Cooper-Frye description used to generate the phase space distribution of emitted, noninteracting particles from a fluid dynamical expansion or explosion, assuming a final ideal gas distribution, or (less frequently) an out-of-equilibrium distribution. In this work we do not want to replace the Cooper-Frye description, but rather clarify the ways of using it and how to choo…

Study of the low-lying collective states in 94–100Mo isotopes using the MAVA

2006

Abstract A systematic investigation of reduced electric quadrupole decay strengths, B ( E 2 ) and level energies of even 94–100 Mo isotopes is performed using the microscopic anharmonic vibrator approach (MAVA). The MAVA is suited for dynamical microscopic description of two-phonon-like states and their energy splitting due to interaction with low-lying one-phonon states. The starting point for the model is a realistic single-particle valence space and a microscopic many-body Hamiltonian which is used to generate the one-phonon states by the use of the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA). The same Hamiltonian generates also the interaction between the one- and two-phonon states.…

Phytoseiid mites from the Basilicata region (Southern Italy): species diversity and redescription of Typhloseiulus arzakanicus (Arutunjan) with a key…

2017

A survey of phytoseiid mites was carried out in the Basilicata region (Southern Italy) between 1976 and 2014 on wild and cultivated plants. A total of 38 species belonging to eleven genera and two subgenera were found on 59 plant species. The most common species was Euseius finlandicus (Oudemans) (39%) followed by Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) exhilaratus Ragusa (32.2%), Kampimodromus aberrans (Oudemans) (27.1%), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) cryptus (Athias-Henriot) (23.7%). Typhloseiulus arzakanicus (Arutunjan), found for first time in Italy, is redescribed here, while the male of this species is described for the first time. A dichotomic key of the species belonging to the genus Typhloseiulus …

The genus Pleurotus in Italy

2015

On the basis of personal observations, herbarium specimens and, data reported in the literature the authors report morphological, ecological and distributive data on Pleurotus taxa from Italy. New descriptions are here provided based on the most distinctive-discriminating eco-morphological characters of twelve Pleurotus taxa.

Towards an Immersive and Accessible Virtual Reconstruction of Theaters from the Early Modern

2020

This paper reports on the work being done towards achieving an immersive and accessible reconstruction of Historical and Cultural Heritage, focusing on Theaters of the Early Modern as use case. In particular, the paper presents and discusses potential possibilities to enable: 1) the acoustical reconstruction of the virtual (lost) environments – beyond the graphical reconstruction for the buildings, elements and performances; 2) effective interaction features and navigation within the virtual environment (e.g. by means of adaptive interfaces, guiding methods, insertion of Point of Interest); and 3) accessible experiences, by means of an innovative and personalized presentation modes for acce…

The Crane Beach Conjecture

2002

A language L over an alphabet A is said to have a neutral letter if there is a letter e/spl isin/A such that inserting or deleting e's from any word in A* does not change its membership (or non-membership) in L. The presence of a neutral letter affects the definability of a language in first-order logic. It was conjectured that it renders all numerical predicates apart from the order predicate useless, i.e., that if a language L with a neutral letter is not definable in first-order logic with linear order then it is not definable in first-order. Logic with any set /spl Nscr/ of numerical predicates. We investigate this conjecture in detail, showing that it fails already for /spl Nscr/={+, *…

PRISMA: towards quality, aspect oriented and dynamic software architectures

2003

The development of software systems must be done using platforms that allow the description of quality, complex, distributed, dynamic and reusable architectural models. We present in this paper PRISMA, an architectural modelling approach based on aspects and components that uses a component definition language (components, connectors and systems) to define architectural types at a high abstraction level and a configuration language to design the architecture of software systems. The component definition language increases reuse allowing importation of COTS and reduces complexity by integrating two modern software development approaches: component-based software development and aspect-orient…

Self-descriptions of socially phobic persons in short-term group psychotherapy

2013

This paper explores how socially phobic persons exhibit their self-images through self-descriptions expressed in a naturalistic group therapy context. The data, which is analysed qualitatively, consists of videotaped therapy sessions, transcribed verbatim, from two groups of individuals (n = 17, mainly women) attending short cognitive–constructive psychotherapy. Seven categories of self-descriptions are found. Three categories –‘self as miserable,’ ‘self as insufficient’ and ‘self as transparent’ – relate to experiential self-images. Four categories – ‘self as adjusting and pleasing others,’ ‘self as demanding toward self,’ ‘self as outsider, different, isolated’ and ‘self as hiding and con…

Gray coding cubic planar maps

2016

International audience; The idea of (combinatorial) Gray codes is to list objects in question in such a way that two successive objects differ in some pre-specified small way. In this paper, we utilize beta-description trees to cyclicly Gray code three classes of cubic planar maps, namely, bicubic planar maps, 3-connected cubic planar maps, and cubic non-separable planar maps. Implications of the restoration of chiral symmetry in bag model building

1985

We analyze via a bag model description of hadron structure the consequences of having two fundamental scales in QCD, one associated with confinement and the other with chiral-symmetry restration. The main effect is that the exterior pion field becomes weaker and, therefore, we are able to reproduce the axial-vector coupling constant.
