Dental emergency care in Spain during the state of alarm due to COVID-19 pandemic.

2020

Background: The first state of alarm due to COVID-19 in Spain led to limit dental treatment exclusively to emergencies. The objective of the survey was to evaluate the amount and type of emergencies attended during this period, as well as to know how they were solved, and what measures were adopted to carry out dental care in these exceptional circumstances. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 312 Spanish dentists, who fulfilled an online questionnaire with 22 closed questions, divided into five sections regarding to various aspects of professional dental profile and emergency care. Descriptive statistic and Chi-square tests were performed (p<0.05). Results: 75.64% of …

Income differences in regions of Latvia is becoming a greater problem for families as there are made decisions for emigration, for municipalities as there are significant reductions in tax (income and property) payers and for entrepreneurs as there are less customers for their products and services: those aspects are on great importance but not enough researched and discussed in academic research. Purpose of the study is to analyse income differences in the regions of Latvia. The tasks of the study: 1 to review theoretical background of income differences in context of regional development; 2 to review existing research of income differences in the regions in EU; 3 to analyse problems of in…

Associative Perception of Latvia as a Travel Destination in European Target Markets

2020

The image of the destination and its perception play an important role in distinguishing objectively comparable alternatives. The aim of the research was to find out the associative perceptions of Latvia as a tourism destination in Latvia’s target markets in Europe, as well as to investigate whether the current and potential Latvian tourism brands correspond with the associations of the people of these markets about holiday travel. The study involved data of three face-to-face surveys conducted in several places in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria in the summer of 2015, 2016, and 2017. The questionnaire was made to determine the recognition and the image of Latvia as tourism destination as…

Main components of the corporative image of cultural organizations

2016

[EN] In the present research, we carry out an analysis of the corporate image of a cultural organization which aims tohighlight its role in order to design management strategies in the cultural field. We investigate what particular attributes are better assessed by the public and which dimensions compose the corporate image of a cultural organization. Based on the literature review, we made an in-depth interview to the programming manager of a cultural organization and also a descriptive survey on its audience through a structured questionnaire. The results of the analyses show that the corporate image of the cultural organization under study is positive, although someattributescan be improv…

Complex ecological models with simple dynamics: From individuals to populations

1994

The aim of this work is to study complex ecological models exhibiting simple dynamics. We consider large scale systems which can be decomposed into weakly coupled subsystems. Perturbation Theory is used in order to get a reduced set of differential equations governing slow time varying global variables. As examples, we study the influence of the individual behaviour of animals in competition and predator-prey models. The animals are assumed to do many activities all day long such as searching for food of different types. The degree of competition as well as the predation pressure are dependent upon these activities. Preys are more vulnerable when doing some activities during which they are …

Algorithmic Information Theory and Computational Complexity

2013

We present examples where theorems on complexity of computation are proved using methods in algorithmic information theory. The first example is a non-effective construction of a language for which the size of any deterministic finite automaton exceeds the size of a probabilistic finite automaton with a bounded error exponentially. The second example refers to frequency computation. Frequency computation was introduced by Rose and McNaughton in early sixties and developed by Trakhtenbrot, Kinber, Degtev, Wechsung, Hinrichs and others. A transducer is a finite-state automaton with an input and an output. We consider the possibilities of probabilistic and frequency transducers and prove sever…
