Cette livraison sur « le Sahara et ses marges » a pu bénéficier des contributions de chercheurs de plusieurs générations et de plusieurs horizons disciplinaires : il en a résulté une grande diversité des approches et une grande ouverture des directions de recherche. Deux lectures peuvent en être faites. Tout d’abord, les contributions ont joué sur des oppositions : désert versus désertification, valeur symbolique et patrimoniale du désert mais dégradation de ses espaces, nomadisme renouvelé mais progression de la sédentarité. The soil microbiota is recognized as key player in both diversity and productivity of terrestrial ecosystems and it is mandatory to include its role in soil quality evaluation.
