A Human-Humanoid Interaction Through the Use of BCI for Locked-In ALS Patients Using Neuro-Biological Feedback Fusion.

This paper illustrates a new architecture for a human–humanoid interaction based on EEG-brain computer interface (EEG-BCI) for patients affected by locked-in syndrome caused by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The proposed architecture is able to recognise users’ mental state accordingly to the biofeedback factor $\text {B}_{\text f}$ , based on users’ attention, intention, and focus, that is used to elicit a robot to perform customised behaviours. Unfair play? Video games as exploitative monetized services: An examination of game patents from a consumer protection perspective

Video games as a consumer product have changed significantly with the advent of in-game purchasing systems (e.g., microtransactions, ‘loot boxes’). This review examines consumer protections related to in-game purchasing by anticipating some of the potential design strategies that might contribute to higher risk consumer behavior. Attention was directed towards the analysis of patents for potential in-game purchasing systems, with 13 identified on Google Patents. The design features were analysed in relation to the consumer rights and guarantees described in the terms of use agreements of the patent assignees. Polyamine conjugates of stigmasterol.

Abstract Three new polyamine conjugates with stigmasterol [(3β,22 E )-stigmasta-5,22-dien-3-ol] were synthesized and subjected to basic antimicrobial and cytotoxic tests. The conjugate derived from spermine, (3β,22 E )-stigmasta-5,22-dien-3-yl 4(12-amino-4,9-diaza-dodecylamino)-4-oxobutanoate ( 5c ), displayed considerable antimicrobial activity on Staphylococcus aureus at low concentration (50 μg mL −1 ). The cytotoxic activity was tested on cells of human T-lymfoblastic leukemia (IC 50  = 35.8 ± 10.3 μM ( 5c ) and IC 50  = 35.9 ± 5.7 μM ( 5b )) and normal human fibroblasts (IC 50  = 38.0 ± 2.8 μM ( 5c ) and IC 50  = 45.5 ± 1.9 μM ( 5b )). Conjugate 5a displayed no activity in both tests.

Radiation hard monolithic CMOS sensors with small electrodes for High Luminosity LHC

Abstract The upgrade of the tracking detectors for the High Luminosity-LHC (HL-LHC) requires the development of novel radiation hard silicon sensors. The development of Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors targets the replacement of hybrid pixel detectors with radiation hard monolithic CMOS sensors. We designed, manufactured and tested radiation hard monolithic CMOS sensors in the TowerJazz 180 nm CMOS imaging technology with small electrodes pixel designs. Materials and methods: In this prospective multi-center study, 65 patients between 20 and 74 years of age and with a need for a single tooth replacement were included. Relaxant effect of sildenafil in the rabbit basilar artery

We hypothesized that sildenafil, inhibitor of phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5), interacts with the nitric oxide (NO)-cGMP pathway in the cerebral arteries and shows vasoactive effects. To prove it in the isolated rabbit basilar artery, we compared the effects of sildenafil with other PDE-5 inhibitors, assessed the endothelial dependence of the vasoactive responses, and used modulators of the cGMP and cAMP signaling processes.
