A Flux-Split Algorithm Applied to Relativistic Flows
1998
The equations of RFD can be written as a hyperbolic system of conservation laws by choosing an appropriate vector of unknowns. We give an explicit formulation of the full spectral decomposition of the Jacobian matrices associated with the fluxes in each spatial direction, which is the essential ingredient of the techniques we propose in this paper. These techniques are based on the recently derived flux formula of Marquina, a new way to compute the numerical flux at a cell interface which leads to a conservative, upwind numerical scheme. Using the spectral decompositions in a fundamental way, we construct high order versions of the basic first-order scheme described by R. Donat and A. Marqu…
Functional categories of TP53 mutation in colorectal cancer: results of an International Collaborative Study.
2006
Item does not contain fulltext BACKGROUND: Loss of TP53 function through gene mutation is a critical event in the development and progression of many tumour types including colorectal cancer (CRC). In vitro studies have found considerable heterogeneity amongst different TP53 mutants in terms of their transactivating abilities. The aim of this work was to evaluate whether TP53 mutations classified as functionally inactive (< or=20% of wildtype transactivation ability) had different prognostic and predictive values in CRC compared with mutations that retained significant activity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: TP53 mutations within a large, international database of CRC (n = 3583) were classified ac…
Comparative study of the determinants of the effectiveness of educational policies of inclusion in France and Cameroon from the point of view of teac…
2014
Considering the fact that inclusive education is an international recommendation (UNESCO, 2008; 2006; 2000; 1994); Framework for Action on Education for All, (2000); Millennium Development Goals (2000), Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006)) , educational policies, both in the countries of the North and those in the South , more or less clearly take into account the educational needs of certain groups including children with disabilities. Considering also that teachers appear as key role players in the success of inclusive education related to children with disabilities (Asrat Dagnew, 2013), (Ngo Mélha, 2013; 2011), ( Kabano , 2001); Bothma M. & al.,2000) , it is judi…
Engaging in upward and downward comparisons as a determinant of relative deprivation at work
2003
A longitudinal study was conducted among 93 nurses to determine the role of comparing one's performance with that of one's colleagues in the increase versus decrease of perceived relative deprivation at work over a period of one year. Relative deprivation at T2 had increased particularly among those high in social comparison orientation (Gibbons & Buunk, 1999) who at T1 (1) more frequently engaged in upward comparisons; (2) more frequently derived positive as well as negative feelings from such comparisons; and (3) more frequently derived negative feelings from downward comparison. Moreover, engaging in downward comparison also led to an increase in perceived relative deprivation at T2.…
Determinants of maxillary canine impaction : retrospective clinical and radiographic study
2017
Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate determinants of maxillary canine impaction taking into account both canine position related variables and the pattern of facial growth. Material and Methods: A retrospective clinical and radiographic analysis was carried out on 109 patients aged between 9 and 10 years at the time of first evaluation. At baseline, SN-GoMe angle, the interincisal angle, the canine angle a and the canine distance d were used to characterize canine location and vertical facial growth. At the end of a two years follow up period the eruption state of each canine of each patient was recorded and accordingly classified as erupted or impacted on a clinical and radiogr…
Short term association between ozone and mortality: global two stage time series study in 406 locations in 20 countries
2020
Objective To assess short term mortality risks and excess mortality associated with exposure to ozone in several cities worldwide. Design Two stage time series analysis. Setting 406 cities in 20 countries, with overlapping periods between 1985 and 2015, collected from the database of Multi-City Multi-Country Collaborative Research Network. Population Deaths for all causes or for external causes only registered in each city within the study period. Main outcome measures Daily total mortality (all or non-external causes only). Results A total of 45 165 171 deaths were analysed in the 406 cities. On average, a 10 µg/m3 increase in ozone during the current and previous day was associated with a…
Short term associations of ambient nitrogen dioxide with daily total, cardiovascular, and respiratory mortality: multilocation analysis in 398 cities
2021
Objective To evaluate the short term associations between nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and total, cardiovascular, and respiratory mortality across multiple countries/regions worldwide, using a uniform analytical protocol. Design Two stage, time series approach, with overdispersed generalised linear models and multilevel meta-analysis. Setting 398 cities in 22 low to high income countries/regions. Main outcome measures Daily deaths from total (62.8 million), cardiovascular (19.7 million), and respiratory (5.5 million) causes between 1973 and 2018. Results On average, a 10 μg/m3 increase in NO2 concentration on lag 1 day (previous day) was associated with 0.46% (95% confidence interval 0.36% to 0.5…
From Fredholm and Wronskian representations to rational solutions to the KPI equation depending on 2N − 2 parameters
2017
International audience; We have already constructed solutions to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KPI) in terms of Fredholm determinants and wronskians of order 2N. These solutions have been called solutions of order N and they depend on 2N −1 parameters. We construct here N-order rational solutions. We prove that they can be written as a quotient of 2 polynomials of degree 2N(N +1) in x, y and t depending on 2N−2 parameters. We explicitly construct the expressions of the rational solutions of order 4 depending on 6 real parameters and we study the patterns of their modulus in the plane (x, y) and their evolution according to time and parameters a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, b3.
6-th order rational solutions to the KPI equation depending on 10 parameters
2017
International audience; Here we constuct rational solutions of order 6 to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KPI) as a quotient of 2 polynomials of degree 84 in x, y and t depending on 10 parameters. We verify that the maximum of modulus of these solutions at order 6 is equal to 2(2N + 1)2 = 338. We study the patterns of their modulus in the plane (x, y) and their evolution according time and parameters a1, a2, a3, a4, a5, b1, b2, b3, b4, b5. When these parameters grow, triangle and rings structures are obtained.
