A Fast Imaging Technique Applied to 2D Electrical Resistivity Data

A new technique is proposed to process 2D apparent resistivity datasets, in order to obtain a fast and contrasted resistivity image, useful for a rapid data check in field or as a starting model to constrain the inversion procedure. In the past some modifications to the back-projection algorithm, as well as the use of filtering techniques for the sensitivity matrix were proposed. Ex-ante and ex-post measurement of equality of opportunity in health: a normative decomposition.

This paper proposes and discusses two different approaches to the definition of inequality in health: the ex-ante and the ex-post approach. It proposes strategies for measuring inequality of opportunity in health based on the path-independent Atkinson equality index. The proposed methodology is illustrated using data from the British Household Panel Survey; the results suggest that in the period 2000–2005, at least one-third of the observed health equalities in the UK were equalities of opportunity.

Abstract Aim This study investigated how material deprivation in Italy influences the stage of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) at diagnosis and the chance of cure. Methods 4114 patients from the Italian Liver Cancer database consecutively diagnosed with HCC between January 2008 and December 2018 were analysed about severe material deprivation (SMD) rate tertiles of the region of birth and region of managing hospitals, according to the European Statistics on Income and Living Conditions. Desde la Teoría de Acción Planeada (TAP), el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar si la autoeficacia y la percepción de control presentan diferencias predictivas sobre la intención y las conductas preventivas de la enfermedad cardiovascular. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 359 sujetos. Los datos han sido analizados empleando el paquete estadístico EQS 6.1. We present a cohort of 100 subjects [43 men and 57 women; median age 66.00(25)] who were tested using carotid ultrasound to identify subclinical carotid atherosclerosis (SCA). We have evaluated the behaviour of whole blood viscosity (WBV) at high (450 s–1) and low (0.51 s–1) shear rates, plasma viscosity (450–1), hematocrit and mean erythrocyte aggregation. When compared to normal control subjects, using the Mann-Whitney test, we observed in SCA patients a significant increase in WBV only. This paper is concerned with a new kind of Riemann solvers for hyperbolic systems, which can be applied both in the conservative and nonconservative cases. In particular, the proposed schemes constitute a simple version of the classical Osher-Solomon Riemann solver, and extend in some sense the schemes proposed in Dumbser and Toro (2011) 19,20. The viscosity matrix of the numerical flux is constructed as a linear combination of functional evaluations of the Jacobian of the flux at several quadrature points. On fermionic shadow wave functions for strongly correlated multi-reference systems based on a single Slater determinant

We demonstrate that extending the Shadow Wave Function to fermionic systems facilitates to accurately calculate strongly-correlated multi-reference systems such as the stretched H2 molecule. This development considerably extends the scope of electronic structure calculations and enables to efficiently recover the static correlation energy using just a single Slater determinant.
Transition metal derivatives of low oxidation state phosphorus oxoacids: synthetic pathways and structural studies

Abstract A general synthetic approach intended to rationalize the solution preparative chemistry of transition metal phosphites and hypophosphites is presented. As previously shown for other derivatives containing also tetrahedral or pseudotetrahedral oxoanions, the hydrolytic processes affecting the cationic moieties play a determinant role on the very nature of the final solid. In fact, despite the limited number of donor atoms in the anions, the crystal chemistry of these compounds is quite intricate because of both the variety of possible cationic aggregates and the many ways to interconnect them through pseudotetrahedral anionic groups.
