The search for identity in the narrative stylistic and poetic study
2016
This dissertation deals with the quest for narrative identity in four distinct narratives: Le Premier Homme, by Albert Camus; Les Oliviers de la justice, by Jean Pélégri; Ébauche du père, by Jean Sénac; and Outremer, by Morgan Sportes. The authors of these narratives belonged to the community of French people born in Algeria and, later on, to that of the pieds-noirs. The texts examine mainly the end of French Algeria. This accounts for the reference to the years 1954-1962, among other periods of time, and to the tragic consequences these years led to, including exile and uprooting. The designation “French Algeria” in itself contains at least a dual reference to identity, if not referring to…
Le deuil dans un monde connecté
2018
Hugh MacDiarmid’s Poetics of Commitment: the Modern Stigmata of Bereavement
2016
In the 1930s, the lingering absence of God and of a stable reality engulfed the work of the poet Hugh MacDiarmid, leader of the Scottish Renaissance Movement. To counter this void, like many others at the time, MacDiarmid found refuge in communism and nationalism and started to write political and idealist poetry. In his poems, his political idealism comes into being in the association of reality and ideal, symbolised first by Jean and Sophia, the characters of A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle (1926), and duplicated later in the fantasised image of Lenin, perfect blending of idea and action. Rejecting Sartre’s denial of the political effect poetry can have, the violence of MacDiarmid’s work…
Ritual function of hypnosis in the follow-up of persistent grief disorders
2017
Hypnotic processes are the subject of transdisciplinary studies that attest to a specific state and involve relational and contextual dimensions (Rainville, 2004; Bioy, 2017). This research is carried out in the context of Persistent Grief Disorders (P.G.D.., Prigerson, 2009, Zech, 2006, Fasse, 2013). A pharmacological approach improves the depressive component without affecting the specific symptoms of PGD, questioning the place of psychotherapeutic interventions (Hensley, 2006). This exploratory research questions the meaning that hypnotic experience can take in a PGD context and describes a phenomenology. The ritual dimension of the hypnotic device could underlie the phenomena of "immedi…
