In particolare sulle voci carusu (tras…

Nazwy skrzypu 'Equisetum' w dialekcie śląskim

2018

Interventions for Family Members and Carers of Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder: A Systematic Review.

2020

Carers of patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) experience high levels of distress. Several studies have been carried out on interventions designed to decrease their burden. However, the evidence from these studies has not been summarized. The objective of this work is to explore the clinical utility of interventions developed for family members of patients with BPD. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines (registration number CRD42018107318), including psychological interventions focused on relatives of patients with BPD. The following databases were used: PsycINFO, PubMed, EBSCOhost, and Web of Science. Two independent researchers reviewed the studi…

2012

This article deals with the 'do-support' phenomenon in the German Tyrolean dialect spoken in Merano/Meran (Northern Italy). We show that it is used in various contexts, which do not correspond to the contexts in which English resorts to do-support. In some of these contexts the do-support is obligatory, while in others it is optional.

The phonemic features of and attitudes toward Southern U.S. English : examining individual dialects and their perception by university students

2013

Tämä tutkielma käsittelee amerikanenglannin murteita Yhdysvaltojen eteläisissä osavaltioissa. Tutkielma käsittelee pääasiassa sitä, millä tavalla yliopisto-opiskelijat reagoivat Amerikan Etelävaltioissa puhuttavaan englantiin. Tämän lisäksi tutkielmassa esitellään eteläisten osavaltioiden murrealueen yleisimmät erityispiirteet, esimerkiksi erilaiset tavat lausua sanoja verrattuna standardiin amerikanenglantiin. Tutkielmassa keskitytään analysoimaan amerikanenglantia käsittelevää kyselylomaketta, johon vastasi neljätoista yliopisto-opiskelijaa. Kyselylomakkeen vastatessaan opiskelijat kuuntelivat neljää Internetissä ollutta äänitiedostoa, joidenka puhujien murteet olivat seuraavilta alueilta…

An integrated dialect analysis tool using phonetics and acoustics

2019

This study aimed to verify a computational phonetic and acoustic analysis tool created in the MATLAB environment. A dataset was obtained containing 3 broad American dialects (Northern, Western and New England) from the TIMIT database using words that also appeared in the Swadesh list. Each dialect consisted of 20 speakers uttering 10 sentences. Verification using phonetic comparisons between dialects was made by calculating the Levenshtein distance in Gabmap and the proposed software tool. Agreement between the linguistic distances using each analysis method was found. Each tool showed increasing linguistic distance as a function of increasing geographic distance, in a similar shape to Segu…

Gwara w twórczości nowej fali prozaików śląskich. Wojciech Kuczok i Szczepan Twardoch

2016

Wojciech Kuczok and Szczepan Twardoch are prominent writers of Silesian origins. Their opuses, in particular Kuczok’s Gnój and Twardoch’s Drach occupy prized place in modern Polish literature. Both authors apply native dialect in their literary works. Regarding the subject of their works and the use of linguistic materiał it is impossible to separate the conclusions from the analysis from the perennial discussions about the culture and Silesian language. The literary output of both authors inscribe in the above mentioned discourse. Thus the linguacultural picture, presented as a part of world depicted in their works, is very important. For many readers from outside Silesia, Kuczok and Tward…

The chapter through a field study with a cultural geographical approach explores the ways in which urban space Piazza Vittorio Emanuele Orlando in Palermo can be the subject of complex processes of (re) semantization. In fact the square becomes a place for improvised youth sports at the center of opposing dialectics (official/improvisation) and multi-layered forms of socializing and aggregation.
