Extending the international new venture phenomenon to digital platform providers : A longitudinal case study
2018
People increasingly interact with services enabled by digital platforms. This has been a consequence of the digitalization of artifacts, which has transmuted traditional businesses into digital forms. With the increasing digitalization and modularization of services, digital platforms have given many digital service providers possibilities to scale globally, and to rapidly transcend national borders by serving multi-sided markets. However, we still know very little about how digital platform providers actually internationalize their services, or how they make their platforms available for global markets. Does the digitalization of retailing disrupt consumers’ attachment to retail places?
2022
This study breaks new ground in the marketing domain by extending the concept of place attachment to the study of the online retail environment. We provide empirical evidence that consumers can establish strong attachments not only with traditional offline places but also with online retail stores. Moreover, we assessed how distinct dimensions of the place affect the formation of consumers’ attachment and their behavioral loyalty. Our findings show that while consumers who feel a strong sense of attachment toward the place engage in spreading positive word-of-mouth regardless of the environment, their attachment to the store does not prevent them from switching to another provider, especial…

Frames of digital divide in digitalization policies in Finland, Denmark and Sweden and the legitimacy of the implementing agency
2020
The process whereby digital technologies are integrated to everyday functions of the lives of citizens is commonly referred to as digitalization. Digital divide is the academic concept that originally referred to the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not, but nowadays it is understood as a wider phenomenon that encompasses various inequalities brought about by digitalization. Nordic countries are at the forefront in taking advantage of new technological opportunities, but also for these welfare states digital divide is a concern and go…
