Joan Robinson's views on credit and money are discussed only rarely. Of late, however, some Post-Keynesians have sought to revive these views, claiming that Robinson was one of the original contributors to the theory of endogenous money, post Keynes. This paper has two objectives. First, it seeks to develop Robinson's views on credit, money and finance and to show that not only did she have a clear understanding of the theory of endogenous money, but that she also held views akin to the theory of the monetary circuit. Financing Unemployment Benefits: Dismissal versus Employment Taxes

This paper investigates the effects of using dismissal taxes to finance unemployment benefits. We compare dismissal and employment taxes in a model with search frictions. Employment taxes give rise to externalities because firms do not take into account the effects their dismissal decisions have on others. By introducing dismissal taxes to finance unemployment insurance, these externalities can partly be internalized. Taking into account the budget of the unemployment insurance, employment taxes can be reduced by more than necessary to offset the adverse effect of dismissal taxes on the firm value. The journal Compositio Mathematica was founded by Luitzen E. J. Brouwer to counter his dismissal from the Mathematische Annalen in 1928. In spite of the economic crisis, Brouwer succeeded in finding a publisher (Noordhoff), an editorial board and subscribers. The founding took place at the time of the rise of the Third Reich, which caused problems of a political nature. The German editors followed Ludwig Bieberbach in 1934 when he left the board because Brouwer refused to dismiss the Jewish editors. After a period of flourishing, the publication was suspended at the beginning of the occupation of Holland in 1940. The post-war restart of the journal led to a painful conflict between Brouwer …

This study examines how globalization of corporate governance practices influence the risk of European CEOs being dismissed. We argue that the harsh monitoring of the American corporate governance system spills over to the rest of the world as a result of this globalization. We focus on direct and indirect American influence on the dismissal performance sensitivity among the 250 largest European publicly listed firms. The indirect influence is assumed to materialize via European firms cross-listing on U.S. exchanges, whereas the direct influence is assumed to appear as a result of European firms hiring of American independent board members. The essay analyses individual dismissals for economic grounds and related remedies (art. 18 Workers' Statute after "Fornerno" reform and legislative decree no. 23/2015), and it highlights the neoliberal reading made by labour courts.
Is ex‐ante ex‐post analysis irrelevant to Keynes's theory of employment?

Ex‐ante ex‐post analysis has become a standard tool in macroeconomics. Yet Keynes dismissed it. We argue that Keynes's dismissal of ex‐ante ex‐post analysis is not an oddity but an indication of the originality of his theory of employment compared to standard macroeconomics. First, the principle of effective demand does not amount to a process that determines employment and income at the point of intersection of the traditionally defined ex ante supply and demand functions. El artículo es un comentario crítico del contenido y alcance del recientemente aprobado RDL 6/2019 para la garantía de la igualdad de trato y de oportunidades entre mujeres y hombres en el empleo y la ocupación. La valoración positiva que, en general, la norma merece, se basa simplemente en su mera aprobación, que refuerza la idea de que la cuestión de la igualdad efectiva entre hombres y mujeres en el trabajo requiere medidas específicas.
