Experimental Investigation on the Performances of a Multilevel Inverter Using a Field Programmable Gate Array-Based Control System

2019

The Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) represents a valid solution for the design of control systems for inverters adopted in many industry applications, because of both its high flexibility of use and its high-performance with respect to other types of digital controllers. In this context, this paper presents an experimental investigation on the harmonic content of the voltages produced by a three-phase, five level cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel inverter with an FPGA-based control board, aiming also to evaluate the performance of the FPGA through the implementation of the main common modulation techniques and the comparison between simulation and experimental results. The control algorithm…

Formation and distortion of iodidoantimonates(III): the first isolated [SbI6]3- octahedron

2017

The ability to intentionally construct, through different types of interactions, inorganic–organic hybrid materials with desired properties is the main goal of inorganic crystal engineering. The primary deformation, related to intrinsic interactions within inorganic substructure, and the secondary deformation, mainly caused by the hydrogen bond interactions, are both responsible for polyhedral distortions of halogenidoantimonates(III) with organic cations. The evolution of structural parameters, in particular the Sb—I secondary- and O/N/C—H...I hydrogen bonds, as a function of temperature assists in understanding the contribution of those two distortion factors to the irregularity of [SbI6]…

Beam deconvolution in noisy CMB maps

2003

The subject of this paper is beam deconvolution in small angular scale CMB experiments. The beam effect is reversed using the Jacobi iterative method, which was designed to solved systems of algebraic linear equations. The beam is a non circular one which moves according to the observational strategy. A certain realistic level of Gaussian instrumental noise is assumed. The method applies to small scale CMB experiments in general (cases A and B), but we have put particular attention on Planck mission at 100 GHz (cases C and D). In cases B and D, where noise is present, deconvolution allows to correct the main beam distortion effect and recover the initial angular power spectrum up to the end…

Euclid preparation XIX. Impact of magnification on photometric galaxy clustering

2022

Aims. We investigate the importance of lensing magnification for estimates of galaxy clustering and its cross-correlation with shear for the photometric sample of Euclid. Using updated specifications, we study the impact of lensing magnification on the constraints and the shift in the estimation of the best fitting cosmological parameters that we expect if this effect is neglected.

CMB spectral distortions in generic two-field models

2017

We investigate the CMB $\mu$ distortion in models where two uncorrelated sources contribute to primordial perturbations. We parameterise each source by an amplitude, tilt, running and running of the running. We perform a detailed analysis of the distribution signal as function of the model parameters, highlighting the differences compared to single-source models. As a specific example, we also investigate the mixed inflaton-curvaton scenario. We find that the $\mu$ distortion could efficiently break degeneracies of curvaton parameters especially when combined with future sensitivity of probing the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$. For example, assuming bounds $\mu < 0.5 \times 10^{-8}$ and $r<0.0…

Coherent Pions From Neutrino Scattering Off Nuclei

2010

We describe a model for pion production off nucleons and coherent pions from nuclei induced by neutrinos in the 1 GeV energy regime. Besides the dominant Delta pole contribution, it takes into account the effect of background terms required by chiral symmetry. Moreover, the model uses a reduced nucleon-to-Delta resonance axial coupling, which leads to coherent pion production cross sections around a factor two smaller than most of the previous theoretical estimates. Nuclear effects like medium corrections on the Delta propagator and final pion distortion are included.

Echo cancellation system for iso-frequency repeaters : contribution to the development of a new generation digital repeater

2014

On-frequency repeaters are a cost-effective solution to extend coverage and enhance wireless communications, especially in shadow areas. However, coupling between the receiving antenna and the transmitting antenna, called radio frequency echo, increases modulation errors and creates oscillations in the system when the echo power is high. According to the communication standards, extremely weak echoes decrease the transmission rate, while strong echoes damage electroni ccircuits because of power peaks. This thesis aims at characterizing the echo phenomenon under different modulations, and proposing an optimized solution directly integrated to industry. We have turned to digital solutions esp…

Mappings of finite distortion: Formation of cusps II

2007

For s > 0 s>0 given, we consider a planar domain Ω s \Omega _s with a rectifiable boundary but containing a cusp of degree s s , and show that there is no homeomorphism f : R 2 → R 2 f\colon \mathbb {R}^2\to \mathbb {R}^2 of finite distortion with exp ⁡ ( λ K ) ∈ L l o c 1 ( R 2 ) \exp (\lambda K)\in L^1_{\mathrm {loc}}(\mathbb {R}^2) so that f ( B ) = Ω s f(B)=\Omega _s when λ > 4 / s \lambda >4/s and B B is the unit disc. On the other hand, for λ > 2 / s \lambda >2/s such an f f exists. The critical value for λ \lambda remains open.

A note to “Mappings of finite distortion: formation of cusps II”

2010

We consider planar homeomorphisms f : R 2 → R 2 f\colon \mathbb {R}^2\to \mathbb {R}^2 that are of finite distortion and map the unit disk onto a specific cusp domain Ω s \Omega _s . We study the relation between the degree s s of the cusp and the integrability of the distortion function K f K_f by sharpening a previous result where K f K_f is assumed to be locally exponentially integrable.

Limits of Sobolev homeomorphisms

2017

Let X; Y subset of R-2 be topologically equivalent bounded Lipschitz domains. We prove that weak and strong limits of homeomorphisms h: X (onto)-> Y in the Sobolev space W-1,W-p (X, R-2), p >= 2; are the same. As an application, we establish the existence of 2D-traction free minimal deformations for fairly general energy integrals. Peer reviewed
