In 2015, a whole body dissection course was proposed by the University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy, thanks to the cooperation with the University of Malta, Msida, Malta. The purpose of this study was to show the the difference between the studyof anatomy on books and on corpses. The article focuses its attention on the dissection method of the upper limb. The astudy was performed on two corpses, a male and a female, by using a basic surgeon kit. Biological Nutrient Removal Model No. 2 (BNRM2): a general model for wastewater treatment plants

This paper presents the plant-wide model Biological Nutrient Removal Model No. 2 (BNRM2). Since nitrite was not considered in the BNRM1, and this previous model also failed to accurately simulate the anaerobic digestion because precipitation processes were not considered, an extension of BNRM1 has been developed. This extension comprises all the components and processes required to simulate nitrogen removal via nitrite and the formation of the solids most likely to precipitate in anaerobic digesters. This paper reflects on the authors' experiences in doing transformative research in two countries of South East Europe - Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina, during their doctoral studies abroad – United Kingdom and Finland. Within the neoliberal context of academia which celebrates ‘success stories’, research committed to change and action may not always be welcomed and may even be considered as a pathway to ‘failure’. Reflecting on this type of 'failure' and 'opportunity' through our personal stories, we debate how we can resist neoliberalisation in academia from within and promote an anti-oppressive and empowering place of hope and change. peerReviewed

Analysant les caractéristiques de la demande de connaissances externes des entreprises en fonction de leurs régimes d’innovation, l’article s’intéresse plus particulièrement au rôle donné à la recherche universitaire dans les stratégies d’innovation des entreprises. Les résultats tirés d'enquêtes auprès d’entreprises britanniques et françaises, développant des composants optoélectroniques, mettent en évidence l’existence de deux catégories de recherche : la R-D sur financement propre qui est liée aux objectifs à court terme, et la R-D à moyen et long terme qui dépend du financement externe. Study of the themes and contents of the doctoral theses carried out in Spain on Sports Biomechanics

El objeto del estudio es conocer y valorar la evolución de las temáticas y contenidos de las tesis doctorales que se han leído en España sobre Biomecánica Deportiva durante el periodo comprendido entre los años 1980 y 2019. La muestra está compuesta de 233 tesis después de un proceso de selección con el uso de criterios de inclusión/exclusión y términos de búsqueda específicos. Los resultados demuestran que existe un crecimiento progresivo en la producción de tesis doctorales a lo largo del tiempo con incrementos progresivos, especialmente en el tercer y cuarto periodo. Los campos temáticos con mayor número de tesis leídas son los de Biomecánica de Apoyo y de Biomecánica Aplicada. El campo …
Telemedicine the role of the patient-doctor relationship
The aim of this work is to study whether and how the characteristics of the existing relationship between a patient and her/his doctor impact the patient’s propensity to switch to telemedicine. We build a conceptual model which hypothesizes a direct effect of the patient-doctor relationship on the propensity to telemedicine, with the perceived efficacy of the healthcare service as the mediator. To collect data, we used the survey methodology. The results confirm the hypothesis about the positive effects of both a good patient-doctor relationship and the patients’ perceived value on the patients’ propensity to switch to telemedicine.

Grounded Analytic Research: Building Theory from a Body of Research

Track II: Recent Developments in Inductive Research Methods; International audience; In this paper, we present Grounded Analytic Research (GAR) as a method to build theory by synthesizing empirical findings from multiple studies that has been conducted by a single researcher. GAR incorporates concepts from grounded theory, analytic research and systematic literature review. The method was applied in a doctoral dissertation work to build the theoretical concept of Demand Sustainability of public Internet access in the context of bridging the digital divide. We describe GAR and compare it with existing theory building methods that are similar to it in epistemology and ontology.

Aproximación a un análisis del ámbito de la Gloria celestial. Aquí la Virgen aparece como reina e intercesora ante el Trono de Gracia, en donde, de acuerdo con la tradición iconográfica, se incluye a San Juan Bautista y los arma Christi portados por ángeles.
