Introduction: The Ambivalence of Documentation in Institutional Contexts of Early Childhood
2020
Documentation, as a term, encompasses very different instruments and procedures. In early childhood institutions, the amount of documentation has increased due to both professional interests and external requirements. The edited volume considers documentation as constitutive in any institution and as possessing agentic power in institutions. Therefore, the key interest of the book is research into the ways in which documentation becomes productive in situ in early childhood institutions. The focus is on research that considers documentation from three viewpoints: as a means of normalisation, as being interlinked with participation, and as reflecting a changing professionalism.
The IEEE-FIPA Standard on the Design Process Documentation Template
2014
Nowadays, it is a matter of fact that a “one-size-fit-all” methodology or design process useful and fitting every kind of problem, situation, or design context does not exist. (Situational) Method Engineering (SME) discipline aims at determining techniques and tools for developing ad hoc design methodologies. SME mainly and highly focuses on the reuse of portion of existing design processes or methodologies (the method fragments). In order to have means for creating SME techniques and tools and for creating new design processes, some key elements are needed: a unique process metamodel for representing design processes and fragments, a proper template for the description of AO design process…
The Public Procurement of IS - A Process View
2014
This paper addresses a lack of research into public procurement of information systems, especially from a process focus. Three case studies from IS procurement in Norwegian municipalities are presented. By following one of the procurements in detail, the paper shows a process with a very strict phased division, an approach quite different from today's agile system development methods. The cases show the importance of the requirement specification which is completed before talking to vendors. They also show the need for clarifying the content of the offer, through a dialogue with the vendor. A number of critical incidents are identified, involving the interests of different stakeholders. Con…
Teacher competencies in game-based pedagogy
2018
This study examines what kind of competencies teachers need in using game-based pedagogy (GBP). In our conceptual framework, GBP entails four approaches: using educational games or entertainment games, learning by making games, and using gamification in learning. Our data, consisting of teachers’ documentation, thematic interviews and questionnaires, were analysed using qualitative content analysis. Four main competence areas were identified: pedagogical, technological, collaborative and creative. The results are applicable for developing teacher education and in-service training, as teacher competencies in game-based learning will be more integral to teachers’ professional knowledge and sk…
Study Design in Medical Research
2009
Medical research studies can be split into five phases—planning, performance, documentation, analysis, and publication (1, 2). Aside from financial, organizational, logistical and personnel questions, scientific study design is the most important aspect of study planning. The significance of study design for subsequent quality, the relability of the conclusions, and the ability to publish a study are often underestimated (1). Long before the volunteers are recruited, the study design has set the points for fulfilling the study objectives. In contrast to errors in the statistical evaluation, errors in design cannot be corrected after the study has been completed. This is why the study design…
Automated anaesthesia record systems, observations on future trends of development.
1995
The introduction of electronic anaesthesia documentation systems was attempted as early as in 1979, although their efficient application has become reality only in the past few years. Today, documentation technology is offered by most of the monitor manufacturers and new systems are being developed by various working groups. The advantages of the electronic protocol are apparent: Continuous high quality documentation, comparability of data due to the availability of a anaesthesia data bank, reduction of the workload of the anaesthesia staff and availability of new additional information. Disadvantages of the electronic protocol have also been discussed. Typically, by going through the proce…
Access to documentation and training in pathological gambling / Acceso a la documentación y formación en juego patológico
2004
AbstractWe develop this article as a guide for the direct and fast access to the education/information and the bibliographic search, because of the need of constant updating of t…
Sleep HERMES: a European Core Syllabus in respiratory disorders during sleep.
2011
The clinical characterisation and description of the obstructive sleep apnoea–hypopnoea syndrome (OSAHS) and related syndromes were mainly revealed by several epidemiological studies conducted over the past fifty years. These highly prevalent syndromes affect about 9% of middle-aged men and 4% of women. These syndromes have serious medical and social consequences, such as cardiovascular or metabolic diseases, and even premature death. Consequently, respiratory sleep medicine (RSM) evolved and has progressed rapidly within the sleep medicine field over recent decades. New diagnostic and therapeutic techniques have appeared in response to an increasing number of patients and clinical interven…
