Zn,Al hydrotalcites calcined at different temperatures: Preparation, characterization and photocatalytic activity in gas–solid regime

Abstract Layered double hydroxides (LDH) containing zinc and aluminium within the brucite-like layers and carbonate as the interlayer anion have been used as precursors for the preparation of mixed metal oxides by calcination. Zinc oxide and the ZnAl 2 O 4 spinel were formed with different degree of crystallinity depending of two parameters, i.e., the Zn 2+ /Al 3+ molar ratio and the calcination temperature (500–800 °C) of the LDH precursor. A pure spinel phase was obtained to remove ZnO upon a basic post-treatment in NaOH solution of the samples calcined at 800 °C. Line mixing in the ν1 and 2ν2 isotropic Raman Q-branch of CO2 perturbed by argon and helium

0021-9606; The shapes of the ν1 and 2ν2 isotropic Raman Q-branch of CO2 perturbed by argon and helium have been measured by Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy (SRS) or coherent anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) techniques. The data have been successfully analyzed with an energy corrected sudden (ECS) approximation model based on basic rates determined independently. Finally comparison of the present data with time resolved double resonance experiments allows us to discuss the physical origin of the two empirical constants which account for the shift and broadening of the branch due to vibrational effects. Candida albicans is the major cause of systemic fungal infections in immunocompromised patients. We investigated the susceptibility of mice deficient in complement factor B and C2 (Bf/C2-/-), C1q (C1qa-/-), and mannan-binding lectin (MBL)-A (MBL-A) and MBL-C (MBL-A/C-/-) to systemic infection with C. albicans. Animals were infected i.p. with 10(8)C. albicans blastoconidia and monitored for mortality. Bf/C2-/- mice showed high mortality (over 90%) within the study period of 3 weeks. In contrast, mortality in C1qa-/- mice was below 15% whereas that of MBL-A/C-/- mice was 40% (P0.001). An anomaly in inclusive pion double charge exchange on 16O at about 1GeV

The new results on the inclusive double charge exchange (DCX) reaction 16O(π-,π+)X at incident kinetic energy T0=0.75 and 1.15GeV are presented. The data were taken without using Cherentov counters. The new DCX cross sections agree well with the old ones. Both the values are about an order of magnitude larger than the theoretical cross sections calculated for the standard sequential mechanism.
