Normalized solutions to the mixed dispersion nonlinear Schrdinger equation in the mass critical and supercritical regime
2019
In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to the mixed dispersion nonlinear Schrödinger equation γΔ2u − Δu + αu =
On the number of solutions of a Duffing equation
1991
The exact number of solutions of a Duffing equation with small forcing term and homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions is given. Several bifurcation diagrams are shown.
Perturbations of the derivative along periodic orbits
2006
International audience; We show that a periodic orbit of large period of a diffeomorphism or flow, either admits a dominated splitting of a prescribed strength, or can be turned into a sink or a source by a C1-small perturbation along the orbit. As a consequence we show that the linear Poincaré flow of a C1-vector field admits a dominated splitting over any robustly transitive set.
Testing mode-coupling theory for a supercooled binary Lennard-Jones mixture
1995
Abstract We have performed a molecular dynamics computer simulation study to investigate the dynamical behavior of a supercooled simple liquid for comparison with the predictions of mode-coupling theory (MCT). By scaling the intermediate scattering function by the α-relaxation time r we find that the correlators fall onto a master curve extending over several decades in time. Thus we find that the time temperature superposition principle holds. In the late β-relaxation regime this master curve can be fitted very well by a master curve predicted by the idealized version MCT. However, there is no evidence for the presence of the critical decay predicted by the theory for the early part of the…
Existence and Singularities for the Prandtl Boundary Layer Equations
2000
Prandtl's boundary layer equations, first formulated in 1904, resolve the differences between the viscous and inviscid description of fluid flows. This paper presents a review of mathematical results, both analytic and computational, on the unsteady boundary layer equations. This includes a review of the derivation and basic properties of the equations, singularity formation, well-posedness results, and infinite Reynolds number limits.
Normal forms of hyperbolic logarithmic transseries
2021
We find the normal forms of hyperbolic logarithmic transseries with respect to parabolic logarithmic normalizing changes of variables. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition on such transseries for the normal form to be linear. The normalizing transformations are obtained via fixed point theorems, and are given algorithmically, as limits of Picard sequences in appropriate topologies.
Psicodinamiche di convivenza nel gruppo di lavoro: un'indagine esplorativa
2009
Psicodinamiche di convivenza nel gruppo di lavoro: un'indagine esplorativa - This work is focused on the study of psychodynamics of cohabitation in work groups, organizations and institutions. The generic aim is to explore the relations between organizational feelings and work group efficacy. The research has been carried out with a group of 120 Sicilian workers. In the present study we considered organizational commitment, justice, trust and power feeling. The multiple correspondence analysis point out two dimensions called: Collusion/Collusion Failed and Adhesive Professional Identity/Repulsive Professional Identity. The results point out relations between middle scores of organizational …
A Hardware and Secure Pseudorandom Generator for Constrained Devices
2018
Hardware security for an Internet of Things or cyber physical system drives the need for ubiquitous cryptography to different sensing infrastructures in these fields. In particular, generating strong cryptographic keys on such resource-constrained device depends on a lightweight and cryptographically secure random number generator. In this research work, we have introduced a new hardware chaos-based pseudorandom number generator, which is mainly based on the deletion of an Hamilton cycle within the $N$ -cube (or on the vectorial negation), plus one single permutation. We have rigorously proven the chaotic behavior and cryptographically secure property of the whole proposal: the mid-term eff…
Impulsive Tests on Historical Structures: The Dome of Teatro Massimo in Palermo
2016
Cultural heritage is the set of things, that having particular historical cultural and aesthetic are of public interest and constitute the wealth and civilization of a place and its people. Sharpen up methodologies aimed at safeguarding of monuments is crucial because the future may have in mind the historical past. Italy is a country that has invested heavily on its historical memory returned in large part by the historical building or the monuments. Furthermore, culture represents a fundamental indicator of the growth of the culture of a country. Consider a monitoring project of one of the most Impressive theater in the world, like “Teatro Massimo” in Palermo (Italy), means to add value t…
Reduced complexity models in the identification of dynamical networks: Links with sparsification problems
2009
In many applicative scenarios it is important to derive information about the topology and the internal connections of more dynamical systems interacting together. Examples can be found in fields as diverse as Economics, Neuroscience and Biochemistry. The paper deals with the problem of deriving a descriptive model of a network, collecting the node outputs as time series with no use of a priori insight on the topology. We cast the problem as the optimization of a cost function operating a trade-off between accuracy and complexity in the final model. We address the problem of reducing the complexity by fixing a certain degree of sparsity, and trying to find the solution that “better” satisfi…
