The role of English-language music in informal learning of English

Tässä tutkielmassa tarkasteltiin englanninkielisen musiikin yhteyttä englannin kielen oppimiseen. Englannin kielen leviäminen maailmanlaajuisesti näkyy voimakkaasti myös populaarikulttuurissa. Erityisesti nuoret suosivat englanninkielistä musiikkia ja omaksuvat siitä monenlaisia vaikutteita. Koulun ulkopuolella tapahtuva oppiminen muodostaakin valtaosan ihmisen elinikäisestä oppimisesta, mutta siitä on verrattain vähän tutkimustietoa. Actual and Potential Pedagogical Use of Tablets in Schools

This study reviews the potential of tablet technology for teaching and learning. In autumn 2012, we conducted a focused survey comprising quantitative and qualitative questions with Finnish teachers (N = 171, from 54 schools). We focused on perceived pedagogical opportunities and the actualized pedagogical potential of tablets at schools. The survey results indicate that the actual usefulness of tablets in schools was significantly less than what teachers perceived as the pedagogical potential. However, the results demonstrate the positive impact these devices are having on teaching and learning, as well as prompting changes in pedagogical perspectives. Nitric oxide (NO) produced by neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) has a role in synaptic plasticity, and evidence suggests its role in a range of effects produced by alcohol in the central nervous system. The aim of the current study was to investigate the role of the nNOS gene in the development of ethanol-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) in mice. La ricerca affronta il tema della pratica della Flipped Classroom (FC o classe capovolta) all’università, con un’attenzione particolare alla figura del docente e mira a definire le caratteristiche che accomunano i docenti che utilizzano questo metodo e come costoro percepiscono il loro ruolo. La metodologia di ricerca utilizzata è il metodo misto dello studio esploratorio sequenziale. Nella prima fase sono state condotte 20 interviste online in profondità con docenti italiani, spagnoli e britannici. Huolimatta siitä, että nykypäivänä oppilaat käyttävät englantia toisten sitä vieraana kielenä puhuvien kanssa esimerkiksi internetissä, on Suomessa käytetyissä oppikirjoissa edelleen korostettu perinteiden mukaan englannin kahta suurinta variaatiota: Amerikan englantia sekä Englannin englantia.
