An Experiential Approach to the Consumption Value of Arts and Culture: The Case of Museums and Monuments

2006

This article is intended to enhance our understanding of the consumer experience within the cultural domain. The analysis of arts and culture consumption is based on a paradigm founded on the theory of value, which, in turn, underlies the notion of the consumer experience. By investigating the field of museums and monuments, the authors validate this experiential approach to the consumption value of arts and culture. They recommend that, since a theatrical setting elicits emotional and ludic reactions in individuals and entails visitor participation, attendance at museums and monuments could be increased by means of “theatricalizing” – or adding a show-oriented dimension to the consumer exp…

Financing of development and the international monetary system

1994

Three categories of developing countries must be distinguished. Of these, one cannot constitute either sufficient domestic savings, or a balance of trade surplus, which would allow it to finance its development. This same category which has no possibility^ to pay back its debts doesn't have a good standing among the borrowing countries, on the international financial market. International organizations don't have sufficient funds to face up tothe needs of these countries. Therefore, the current international monetary system is not favorable to these countries. Consequently, a reform of the international monetary system is necessary. This reform should make the study of international liquidi…

Coste y financiacion de la universidad espanola

1986

International audience; Education, as any other activity, is hard to produce. Not only is it difficult to produce for the community in charge of teaching services, but also for the fellows who receive the instruction, as they bear, besides the direct expenses of their education, the opportunity costs, mainly in form of an unwon salary. We will primordially refer to the first of the two mentioned aspects of the cost of higher education, without denying the importance of the private expenses in higher education-rather difficult to cipher as a result of the shortage of adequate statistics, on the other hand. In that way, the purpose of this work is, firstly, to describe the recent evolution of…

Les systèmes complets de fonctions de demande

1977

The Washington consensus and multinational banking in Latin America

2004

International audience; The dramatic increase in multinational banks in the late 1990s is a direct result of Washington Consensus-type policies that emphasize the removal of barriers to the free flow of financial capital. In Latin America, foreign banks now control almost half of the total banking activity. Inevitably, the direct implication of such circumstances is a fall in the profits of domestic banks. In response to this, domestic banks react by curtailing their overall lending in the short run, thereby preventing small borrowers from accession to credit, and eventually increasing their lending to riskier projects and borrowers in the medium run. Either way, the multinationalization of…

AN ANALYSIS ON THE FDI FLOWS FROM EMERGING ECONOMIES TO EUROPE AND THEIR IMPACT

2014

After a concise setting of the context (by emphasizing on the FDI flows dynamics at the beginning of the 21st century through the lens of: annual inward and outward FDI flows between 2001 and 2013; annual contribution to IFDI flows and, respectively, to OFDI flows by group of countries – developed versus developing and transition ones), the paper analyzes the emerging market economies and the dynamics of their FDI flows (by using contextualization and comparisons). The main aspects targeted are: the dynamics of the outward FDI flows from EMEs comparative to the dynamics of the global outward FDI flows on annual basis, and the evolution of the specific weight of OFDI flows from EMEs in globa…
