Multi-feature Counting of Dense Crowd Image Based on Multi-column Convolutional Neural Network

2020

The crowd counting task is an important research problem. Now more and more people are concerned about safety issues. When the population density reaches a very high peak, the population density counts, the alarm is sent out, and the crowds are diverted. The trampling of the Shanghai New Year’s stampede will not happen again. The final density map is produced by two steps: at first, extract feature maps from multiple layers, and then adjust their output so that they are all the same size, all these resized layers are combined into the final density map. We also used texture features and target edge detection to reduce the loss of density map detail to better integrate with our convolutional…

Tendencias actuales en la formación del profesorado de ciencias

2021

In the last few years, there has been a significant growth of interest in science teacher education. An analysis of recent science teacher education research is offered in this paper. This study answers the major question: What does research tell us about the recent trends in teacher preparation? We are beginning to understand that in the in-service or pre-service training is it very important to know the effects of: a) a limited content knowledge, b) the «commonsense» conceptions, behaviors and attitudes about different aspects of science teaching; c) the need of integration «knowledge -practice» in programs of teacher education and that; d) theses obstacles to didactic knowledge adquisiti…

The Effects of Cognitive Strategy Instruction on Knowledge of Math Problem-Solving Processes of Middle School Students With Learning Disabilities

2012

This study investigated the effectiveness of Solve It! instruction on students’ knowledge of math problem-solving strategies. Solve It! is a cognitive strategy intervention designed to improve the math problem solving of middle school students with learning disabilities (LD). Participants included seventh- and eighth-grade students with LD ( n = 77) and average-achieving students ( n = 77). We examined treatment effects of the intervention, as well as differential effects of treatment across ability levels, on students’ knowledge of problem-solving strategies using the Math Problem-Solving Assessment. Results showed that students across ability levels who received Solve It! instruction rep…

Museum behind the scenes–an inquiry-based learning unit with biological collections in the classroom

2016

AbstractThe aim of this study was to design and evaluate an inquiry- and activity-based learning unit for the classroom that uses biological collections to teach key evolutionary concepts and to support the understanding and appreciation of the work of a museum. The unit consisted of three parts that focused on the most important tasks of museums: collecting and conserving, researching and exhibiting. The students created their own collection, performed research surrounding it and then designed an exhibition. Seventy-six secondary sixth- and seventh-grade students participated in the testing of the prototype unit. For evaluation, we carried out a pre-/post-test design using a questionnaire …

Preservice teachers implementing a nonlinear physical education pedagogy

2019

Background\ud In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the evolution of physical education teaching practice from a traditional teacher-centred approach to a student-centred approach. Consequently, research has focused on questions about the changing conceptions of the teaching and learning process, that is, from how ‘we’ teach to how ‘they’ learn. A contemporary theoretical model of the teaching and learning process could underpin learning design and delivery adopted in physical education. The constraints-led approach (CLA) is a viable alternative as its practice design and delivery is grounded in the contemporary motor learning theory of ecological dynamics within a nonlin…

A person-environment-fit-model for temporary organizations - Antecedents for temporary working settings

2021

Abstract Projectification has led to the widespread use of temporary organizations (TOs) in many industries, but the various factors that determine successful work by employees in TOs are unexplored. We argue that organizations have different degrees of temporariness depending on the following five TO dimensions: temporal duration, nature of the task, team composition, hierarchy, and coordination. Considering the TO dimensions and varying degrees of temporariness, we propose a person-environment (P-E) fit model. The model comprises three levels – organizational-, group-, and job-oriented – and relates personal attributes to the TO dimensions. We contribute to theory by developing a set of p…

How team feedback and team trust influence information processing and learning in virtual teams: A moderated mediation model

2015

We study how team feedback influences information processing and learning in virtual teams.Group information is positively related to team learning in virtual teams. The indirect effect of team feedback on team learning via group information elaboration is moderated by team trust. This study examines a moderated mediation model in which team trust moderates the indirect effect of team feedback on team learning through group information elaboration in virtual teams. An experimental study in a laboratory was conducted with 54 teams randomly assigned to a team feedback condition or a control condition. Results provided empirical support to the moderated mediation model. We found that the indire…

The effects of virtuality level on task-related collaborative behaviors: The mediating role of team trust

2013

This study aims to analyze the mediating role of team trust in the relationship between virtuality level and task-related collaborative behaviors. Three types of task-related collaborative behaviors were studied, namely team coordination, team cooperation, and team information exchange. Drawing upon theory and research on virtual teams and trust, we hypothesized that team trust partially mediated the effects of virtuality level on team coordination, team cooperation, and team information exchange. A laboratory experiment was carried out with 65 four-person teams randomly assigned to three communication media with different virtuality levels (face-to-face, video conference and computer-media…

Interdependence between best team members and their teammates

2013

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine how, within a team, the value of their best member depends critically on the performance of the rest. Analysis of the interdependent team members complements the traditional focus of resource‐based‐view analyses of isolated resources.Design/methodology/approachThe authors used data from 584 National Basketball Association teams (30 teams collected over 21 seasons).FindingsThe authors find a positive relationship between best member performance and team performance that increases as the rest of the team members’ performance improves.Practical implicationsHaving team members with a high individual performance does not imply that the team will hav…

Linking educational diversity and team performance: Team communication quality and innovation team climate matter

2016

This study examines the influence of education level diversity on team communication quality and team performance. Specifically, we propose a moderated mediation model with team communication quality as a mediator in the relationship between education level diversity and team performance, and with innovation team climate as a moderator in this mediated relationship. The study sample consisted of 57 bank branches, and a lagged design with three data-collection points was implemented. The results obtained showed that, as expected, innovation team climate moderated the relationship between education level diversity and team communication quality, as well as the indirect effect linking educatio…
