2010
This paper analyzes which has been the role played by the newspapers ABC and La Razón in the public debate that preceded the introduction in Spain of the subject Education for Citizenship in 2007. This research, which considers the newspapers as political actors, tries to verify whether the editorial article is used as an essential discourse with which to construct media campaigns along a particular period. Likewise, this study examines the most relevant rhetorical and stylistic characteristics of these discourses to try to conclude what aim has guided the action of both newspapers during the conflict. The analysis shows that the fallacious argumentation and the agitator temper prevailed in…

Editorial: Recent Advances in Symbiosis Research: Integrative Approaches
2016
Symbiosis research is being transformed by new model systems and technologies that bring forth unexpected discoveries. Technological advances such as those stemming from Next Generation Sequencing enable detailed insights into the molecular bases of symbiotic relationships, and have revolutionized the study of complex microbial communities. As new data gathers, the need grows for a conceptual framework that helps organize and make sense of the information. Here, we present some ground-breaking works pushing the boundaries of our understanding of symbiosis in a variety of systems, as well as some state-of-the-art attempts at putting forward organizing principles for the whole of symbiology.
Helicobacter pylori: Infection and New Perspective for the Treatment
2019
The alarming phenomenon of antibiotic resistance in Helicobacter pylori suggests to pay close attention in the treatment. In particular, the clarithromycin resistance in H. pylori was designed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as high priority for antibiotic research in 2017 [1]. In Italy, the overall primary resistance to clarithromycin can be detected in 35.2% of cases; in France, it can be detected in 26% of cases, while in Spain, clarithromycin resistance is present in 27.2% of strains [2–4]. Natural/innovative strategies, as well as novel potentiators to restore the antibiotic susceptibility in resistant strains, could be used to improve the efficacy of H. pylori eradication, and …
The Role of Yeasts in Fermentation Processes
2020
In recent years, vessels have been discovered that contain the remains of wine with an age close to 7000 years. It is unclear whether, in ancient times, humans accidentally stumbled across fermented beverages like wine or beer, or was it a product intended as such. What is a fact is that since then, alcoholic beverages have been part of the diet and culture of many of the civilizations that have preceded us. The typical examples of beer and wine are an example of many other drinks resulting from the action of yeasts. In addition to these two beverages, various companies have developed other types of fermented foods and non-alcoholic beverages prepared in a traditional or commercial manner. …
