Essentials of Common Industrial Policy

2021

A set of sixteen principles of modern industrial policy is derived from the literature for application to entire regions. Such policy strives to create industrial commons and to rectify market failures which cannot reasonably be expected to self-correct over time. This chapter creates a workable typology of genuine regional industries, distinguishing two main types: Type I is the outcome of targeted selection and Type II of broad investment promotion. Abstract The liquid-liquid equilibria of the ternary systems water (1) + 2-propanol (2) + [emim][Tf2N] (3) and water (1) + 2-propanol (2) + [hmim][Tf2N] (3) at 283.2, 303.2 and 323.2 K and atmospheric pressure were investigated, in order to achieve a better knowledge of the ternary mixture behaviour. The capability of [emim][Tf2N] and [hmim][Tf2N] as solvents in the separation of the azeotropic mixture water + 2-propanol was studied through the distribution coefficient and selectivity, and compared with the results obtained with other ionic liquids in the same azeotropic mixture studied before by our research group. Abstract After the good behavior of different 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquids (ILs) used as solvents in the separation of 1-propanol and 2-propanol from water, liquid-liquid equilibria data was measured from a system formed by a ternary mixture of water, 1-propanol or 2-propanol and 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([dmim][Tf2N]) at 283.2, 303.2 and 323.2 K and atmospheric pressure. Trigger and aperture of the surface detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory

The surface detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory consists of 1600 water-Cherenkov detectors, for the study of extensive airshowers (EAS) generated by ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. We describe the trigger hierarchy, from the identification of candidates howers at the level of a single detector, amongst a large background (mainly random single cosmic ray muons), up to the selection of real events and the rejection of random coincidences. The propagation of ultrasonic guided wave (GW) in the long bone is very sensitive to the bones' shapes, properties and cortical thicknesses (CTh).
