Many-body Green's function theory for electron-phonon interactions: ground state properties of the Holstein dimer

2015

We study ground-state properties of a two-site, two-electron Holstein model describing two molecules coupled indirectly via electron-phonon interaction by using both exact diagonalization and self-consistent diagrammatic many-body perturbation theory. The Hartree and self-consistent Born approximations used in the present work are studied at different levels of self-consistency. The governing equations are shown to exhibit multiple solutions when the electron-phonon interaction is sufficiently strong whereas at smaller interactions only a single solution is found. The additional solutions at larger electron-phonon couplings correspond to symmetry-broken states with inhomogeneous electron de…

Surfactant-assisted synthesis of Cd1−xCoxS nanocluster alloys and their structural, optical and magnetic properties

2010

We report the synthesis of Co-doped CdS nanoclusters (Cd1−xCoxS) for different doping concentrations (x = 0.10, 0.20 and 0.30) and characterization of their structural, optical, and magnetic properties. The structural properties studied by X-ray diffraction revealed hexagonal-greenockite structure and a decrease of the lattice parameters (a and c) with doping, showing incorporation of Co in the lattice. The morphology of the nanoclusters was studied by scanning electron microscopy. The optical absorption studies, using diffused reflectance spectroscopy, revealed that Co doping modifies the absorption band edge. Ferromagnetic phase was observed in the magnetization measurements at room-tempe…

Effect of air on oxygen p-doped graphene on SiO2

2016

Stability in ambient air or in vacuum-controlled atmosphere of molecular oxygen-induced p-type doping of graphene monolayer on SiO2 substrate on Si is investigated by micro-Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The Raman 2D and G bands spectral positions and amplitude ratio are affected by the permanence in air atmosphere in a time scale of months whereas the vacuum safely maintains the doping effects determined through Raman bands. No morphological effects are induced by the doping and post-doping treatments. A reactivity of ambient molecular gas with stably trapped oxygen is suggested to induce the doping modification. Influence of Ge doping level on the EPR signal of Ge(1), Ge(2) and E'Ge defects in Ge-doped silica

2011

Abstract We present an experimental investigation on the Ge doping level dependence of the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) signal spectral features of the Ge(1), Ge(2) and E'Ge defects induced in Ge doped silica. We have studied samples produced by sol–gel or PCVD techniques and doped with different amounts of Ge up to 20% by weight. The samples were gamma or beta ray irradiated and successively they were thermally treated to isolate the EPR signals of the different point defects. The data show that the EPR line shapes of the Ge(1) and the Ge(2) centers are progressively modified for doping level higher than 1%, whereas the line shape of the E'Ge defect appears independent from the do…

Pressure- and temperature-induced valence tautomeric interconversion in a o-dioxolene adduct of a cobalt-tetraazamacrocycle complex

2001

An electronic switch at the molecular level has been realized by using a class of ionic compounds of the formula [Co(L)(diox)]Y (L = tetraazamacrocyclic ligand, Y = mononegative anion). Such compounds undergo temperature- and pressure-induced intramolecular one-electron transfer equilibria. The transition temperature of interconversion varies with the nature of the counterions Y (Y = PF6, BPh4, I). Surprisingly the effect of the anion on the transition temperature is not only governed by its volume but also by its coulombic interaction.

Optical Fiber Based Dosimeter Data From RADEF Pulsed Electron Beams - Oscilloscope Traces

2021

These data are from tests of fiber optic based dosimetry systems. The purpose of the collected data is to use it for characterizing the different tested samples responses against pulsed electron radiation, for different electron bunch sizes. The tested samples are sol-gel silica glass rods doped with Ce, Cu, or Gd ions, making the rods radioluminescent. The samples were connected to a multimode pure-silica core optical fiber, which transported the radiation induced luminescence (RIL) to a photomultiplier tube (PMT) with an optical band pass filter in front of it. The samples were subject to a pulsed 20 MeV electron beam. The resulting output pulses from the PMT from the induced RIL light we…

Flat bands, Dirac cones, and atom dynamics in an optical lattice

2010

We study atoms trapped with a harmonic confinement in an optical lattice characterized by a flat band and Dirac cones. We show that such an optical lattice can be constructed which can be accurately described with the tight binding or Hubbard models. In the case of fermions the release of the harmonic confinement removes fast atoms occupying the Dirac cones while those occupying the flat band remain immobile. Using exact diagonalization and dynamics we demonstrate that a similar strong occupation of the flat band does not happen in bosonic case and furthermore that the mean field model is not capable for describing the dynamics of the boson cloud.

Direct detection of 17O NMR in [Gd(DOTA)]- by NMR Spectroscopy

2015

The 17O NMR spectrum of the non-coordinated carboxyl oxygen in the GdIII-DOTA (DOTA = tetraazacyclododecanetetraacetic acid) complex has been observed experimentally. Its line width is essentially unaffected by paramagnetic relaxation due to gadolinium, and is only affected by the quadrupole pathway. The results are supported by the relevant parameters (hyperfine and quadrupole coupling constants) calculated by relativistic DFT methods. This finding opens up new avenues for investigating the structure and reactivity of paramagnetic GdIII complexes used as contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging.
