Organophosphonate utilization by the wild‐type strain of cladosporium resinae

We studied the biodegradation of compounds containing phosphorus‐to‐carbon bond by using wild‐type strain of Cladosporium resinae. The substrate specificity of the strain was studied and we found that it is able to utilize a range of structurally diverse organophosphonates as a sole source of phosphorus. This ability is inducible as indicated by the presence of a lag phase of the growth. A popular herbicide glyphosate is also degraded by the fungi. This indicates that Cladosporium resinae may play an important role in biodegradation of this herbicide. The strain which we used, however, did not metabolise any phosphonates when they served as the sole carbon or nitrogen sources.

Critical-state effects on microwave losses in type-II superconductors

We discuss the microwave energy losses in superconductors in the critical state. The field-induced variations of the surface resistance are determined, in the framework of the Coffey and Clem model, by taking into account the distribution of the vortex magnetic field inside the sample. It is shown that the effects of the critical state cannot generally be disregarded to account for the experimental data. Results obtained in bulk niobium at low temperatures are quantitatively justified.

Macro-micro relationship in nanostructured functional composites

This paper examines the results of the characterization of two functional composites: Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-Ce:YAG (yttrium aluminium garnet doped with cerium) and PMMA-cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF). The composites were prepared as possible emitters in the fields of lighting thermal sensors. Metal Dependence on the Bidirectionality and Reversibility of the Singlet Energy Transfer in Artificial Special Pair-Containing Dyads

International audience; The demetalation of a precursor dyad, 3, built upon a zinc(II)-containing artificial special pair and free-base antenna, leads to a new dyad, 4, for singlet energy transfer composed of cofacial free-base porphyrins (acceptor), [Fb](2) bridged by a 1,4-C6H4 group to a free-base antenna (donor), [Fb]. This dyad exhibits the general structure [M](2)-C6H4-[Fb], where [M](2) = [Fh](2), and completes a series reported earlier, where [M](2) = [Mg](2) (2) and [Zn](2) (3). The latter dyads exhibit a bidirectional energy-transfer process at 298 K for 2 and at 77 K for 3. Iron (II) isothiocyanate complexes with substituted pyrazines: Experimental and theoretical views on their electronic structure

Abstract Synthesis, structural, magnetic, Mossbauer and thermal studies of isothiocyanate iron (II) complexes with substituted pyrazines (iodo-, bromo- and amino-derivatives) are discussed here. Complexes with iodo- and bromo-derivatives were found to have the composition [Fe(Ipz)2(SCN)2(H2O)2]·2Ipz (1) and [Fe(Brpz)2(SCN)2(H2O)2]·2Brpz (2), whereas in the case of amino-functionalized pyrazine the formation of [Fe(NH2pz)4(SCN)2] (3) was observed. 3D organization of the molecular complexes is stabilized within different hydrogen, halogen and lone pair–π interactions. Solvated copper(I) hexafluorosilicate π-complexes based on [Cu2(amtd)2]2+ (amtd = 2-allylamino-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole) dimer

[Cu2(amdt)2]SiF6·C6H6 and [Cu2(amdt)2(H2O)2]SiF6·CH3CN·2H2O (amdt = 2-allylamino-5- methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole) were obtained by alternating-current electrochemical synthesis, starting from water–acetonitrile–benzene mixtures containing 2-allylamino-5-methyl-1,3,4- thiadiazole and CuSiF6·4H2O. The electrochemical reduction of the saturated copper hexafluorosilicate water solution beneath the neatly poured layer of acetonitrile-benzene amdt solution resulted in the formation of crystalline [Cu2(amdt)2]SiF6·C6H6.
