Foreign-owned firms around the world: A comparative analysis of wages and employment at the micro-level

Abstract This paper provides the first microeconomic cross-country analysis of the effects of foreign ownership on wages, employment and worker turnover rates. Using firm-level and linked worker-firm data, we apply a standardised methodology for three developed (Germany, Portugal, UK) and two emerging economies (Brazil, Indonesia). We find that wage effects are larger in developing countries, and that for each country the largest effect on wages comes from workers who move from domestic to foreign firms. The effect of home and host country cultures on the manager's individual decision making related to ethical issues in a MNC

In this theoretical paper, I review the most frequently cited descriptive models of individual decision making related to ethical issues in business, marketing and international business, as well as related empirical studies. The main goal is to propose an extension of the most comprehensive model of ethical decision making by including host country culture as an additional variable for application to a multinational corporation setting. I also suggest an empirical research design that would help test not only whether the variable affects individual decision making related to ethical issues in a MNC, but also how it influences individual decision making.

Abstract This paper discusses the issue of recycling of plastics in the automobile industry which has gained importance due to the proposed European Commission regulation on End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) where the EC sets targets on the percent recyclablity or reusability of a car by the year 2015.
