Job demands and resources as antecedents of work engagement: A longitudinal study

2007

Abstract By utilizing a 2-year longitudinal design, the present study investigated the experience of work engagement and its antecedents among Finnish health care personnel ( n  = 409). The data were collected by questionnaires in 2003 (Time 1) and in 2005 (Time 2). The study showed that work engagement—especially vigor and dedication—was relatively frequently experienced among the participants, and its average level did not change across the follow-up period. In addition, the experience of work engagement turned out to be reasonably stable during the 2-year period. Job resources predicted work engagement better than job demands. Job control and organization-based self-esteem proved to be t…

Psychosocial Safety Climate as a Factor in Organisational Resilience: Implications for Worker Psychological Health, Resilience, and Engagement

2019

Organisations are undergoing unprecedented changes in order to survive in a global and fiercely competitive capitalist market. Resilience is the capacity to endure challenges and is an attribute highly sought after in organisations, but is a construct typically theorised at the individual level. We argue that the notion of resilience can be applied at a systems level to the organisational context, and that organisational resilience presages individual resilience. Organisational resilience is defined as the capacity of the organization to cope with challenges through flexible, adaptable, humane, and interactive systems, whilst maintaining the health, individual resilience, and engagement of …

Mobbing in Schools and Hospitals in Uruguay: Prevalence and Relation to Loss of Status.

2017

In the present study in secondary schools and hospitals in Uruguay ( N = 187), we examined the relationship between feeling the victim of mobbing and a perceived loss of status. Nearly all forms of mobbing were more prevalent among hospital employees than among school employees. Among hospital employees, 40.4%, and among school employees, 23.9% reported being the victim of mobbing at least once a week. Being the victim of mobbing was, in both hospitals and schools, more prevalent among older employees, and in hospitals, among employees who were more highly educated and who had been employed for a longer time. Men and women did not differ in reporting that one was a victim of mobbing, but m…

TURNING DATA INTO VALUABLE INSIGHTS: THE CASE STUDY IN AVIATION SECTOR COMPANY

2017

Since the early 2000s, there is increasing pressure on Human Resource Departments to show their impact on organizational performance. This pressure is related to the shift from industrial based economies to knowledge based economies and positioning people as potential sources of competitive advantage, and to the rise of Evidence-Based Management (EBM), which requires making decisions based on data and analysis. New technologies have enabled HR departments to start a transition from HR metrics to HR Analytics, thus transforming from the traditional administrative HR function to a more strategic HR function that can express qualitative matters and its impact on organizational performance with…

Odpowiedzialność pracodawcy z tytułu mobbingu - porównanie roszczenia o zadośćuczynienie i odszkodowanie z uwzględnieniem statystyk sądowych

2019
