Fluoride-induced precipitates on enamel surface and subsurface areas visualised by electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy

The present study examined the enamel surface after in vitro topical treatments with a neutral 2% NaF solution. For minimising the risk of artefacts, samples were inspected without pre-treatment as fresh, naturally wet specimens by complementary techniques: variable pressure electron microscopy (VP-SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). VP-SEM provided information on the surface morphology, whereas CLSM allowed non-destructive visualisation of subsurface areas. Comparative study of the radiopacity of resin cements used in aesthetic dentistry

The aim of this study was to compare the radiopacity of 6 modern resin cements with that of human enamel and dentine using the Digora digital radiography system, to verify whether they meet the requirements of ANSI/ADA specification no. 27/1993 and the ISO 4049/2000 standard and assess whether their radiopacity is influenced by the thickness of the cement employed. Aim: To evaluate the retention of an endodontic titanium post with a spherical head for removable partial denture or overdenture attachment according to surface treatment type. Methods: Sixty healthy single-rooted teeth, sectioned at the enamel/cementum junction, were treated endodontically and steadily fixed in the embedding acrylic resin. Some morphologic changes induced by Nd:YAG laser on the noncoated enamel surface: A scanning electron microscopy study

The enamel surface layer of some human teeth was treated with the low-energy Nd:YAG laser at 8 mJ pulse energy. These samples were previously etched with 0.05 M orthophosphoric acid to reduce the surface reflection. The treated samples, as well as the control samples, were widely studied by scanning electron microscopy, and, in the lased group, significant morphologic changes affecting the enamel surface were observed. Those changes reveal principally the loss of the typical surface structure of the acid-etched enamel. This study aimed to evaluate enamel cracks followed by debonding ceramic brackets with mechanical retention. Study Design: Sixty extracted human premolar teeth were randomly divided into two groups. Biomimetic transformation of polyphosphate microparticles during restoration of damaged teeth.
