Consumers in Information Technology Enabled Service Encounters: Perceptions and Tradeoffs in Multi-Channel Interactions

This study examines information technology enabled, multi-channel service context from the end-user's perspective and, more specifically, from the perspective of a consumer, in particular the extent to which the multi-channel interaction experience results in consumer satisfaction and any tradeoffs that consumers make in the evaluation of the context of service. Empirical results from our online survey with mobile consumers indicate that the variables included in the model have a direct impact on consumer satisfaction when considered individually. Gravitational waves from galaxy encounters

We discuss the emission of gravitational radiation produced in encounters of dark matter galactic halos. To this aim we perform a number of numerical simulations of typical galaxy mergers, computing the associated gravitational radiation waveforms as well as the energy released in the processes. Our simulations yield dimensionless gravitational wave amplitudes of the order of $10^{-13}$ and gravitational wave frequencies of the order of $10^{-16}$ Hz, when the galaxies are located at a distance of 10 Mpc. La regione dei Caraibi abbraccia, infatti, sia alcune delle isole dell’arcipelago delle Piccole Antille (Martinica, Guadalupa), sia l’isola di Haïti, che fa parte delle Grandi Antille, che la Guiana incastonata sulla costa orientale dell’America meridionale. Pur nella diversità dei movimenti ideologici e degli avvenimenti storici che si sono succeduti nella regione, le opere letterarie degli scrittori caraibici francofoni, nel loro insieme, hanno oscillato, e continuano …

The definition "Franco-Caribbean Literature" used by convention from the critique to indicate all the literary production in French of the central region of the American continent is very improper. The Caribbean region includes in fact the islands of Martinique Guadeloupe Haïti and the Guiana. Despite the diversity of ideological movements and historical events that took place in these countries the literary works of the Caribbean writers have fluctuated and continue to oscillate between two tendencies: that of rooting in tradition and that of escape from it. The writers show themselves open to comparison and dialogue with other literary and cultural traditions in order to create a narrative form that corresponds to the many inheritances of those composite populations. Here the cultural syncretism that has been created allows to recognize a common identity in the name of all that the West wanted to extinguish. The common denominator seems to be inverted in the contradictory result of courageous but dangerous encounters of curiosities that can lead to conflicts to exclusions.

Towards an Economy of Encounters? : A critical study of affectual assemblages in coworking

Abstract Coworking spaces have been established in great numbers around the globe over the past 10 years. Previous studies on coworking spaces argue that these spaces are designed to enable serendipitous encounters. Here we introduce the concept of an economy of encounters, arguing that both intended and unintended encounters have become a form of production in the knowledge-based new economy. Doing Respectable Heteromasculinities in Boys and Young Men’s Interview Talk on Sexual Encounters

Recent studies on boys and young men’s heterosexual practices point in contradictory directions. On the one hand, boys and young men seem to be placing less value on “hard”, overtly aggressive masculinity and compulsive heterosexuality, in keeping with their adoption of more egalitarian attitudes in their sexual relationships. On the other hand, the hegemonic masculine notions that associate “real” men with sexual prowess persist as well. This chapter explores how experientially based pedagogical activities that involve participation in real life service encounters provide occasions for developing L2 interactional competence. The data comprises novice L2 students’ self-recorded interactions in service settings and videorecordings of classroom planning activities and de-briefing discussions, where the students reflect on their experiences. The analysis traces what kinds of occasions for learning arise as the students move between the classroom and the real-world service settings. This study investigate dobstacles to encounters with staff as experienced by parents in the context of institutional pre-primary education in Finland. The study contributes to education research by exploring parents’ perceptions and experiences of encounters with staff from the perspectives of Buber’s (1923/1987; 1947/2002) dialogic philosophy and Giorgi`s (1994) phenomenological psychology.
